    Unhappy shipping to Canada

I can see why people in the u.s. don't want to ship to Canada.

I mailed out a camera a month and a 1/2 ago to a canadian buyer.

tracking the customs form online just shows it was recieved at my post office and thats all.

the buyer contacted the canadian post office and they said it never got in the country.

so, I would assume its been sitting at customs for over a month.

they may get it one day or it may never show up.

I sent a priority mail package there once and it took over 3 weeks for buyer to get it.

    I'm done shipping to canada

Contact USPS. Your package has never left the post office. You must have a follow up of the package. Otherwise what the point to pay extra to have a tracking number.

The USPS tracking number is useless, it does not mean a damn thing.
We stopped using the mail at my work to ship internationally after they lost 4 or 5 packages.
We had tracking #s for every one and they could not figure out where they were.
Now we tell the customers we only ship international via UPS, it is more money but you can see where it is every step of the way.

the buyer tried filing for a refund for non delivery and paypal now will not give one after 45 days.
it used to be longer, he just missed it by a few days.
I'm hoping its just sitting in customs and one day they will get it.
and my p.o. won't even refund postage cost!!!
I did my part and its all up to the p.o. and customs now.

It's not just shipping to Canada, it shipping inside the US as well, I sent a box of DVDs to a customer in Maine via prioirty mail with Delivery confirmation.
It was not scanned at any point along the way until the customer asked that it be sacanned at delivery. Just so I would know it arrived, when she ask her post offic ewhy it had not been scanned the clerk just shrugged and said "I don't know"
The customs forms for Prioirty mail usually show when it was scanned at the main post office in your area and when it leaves the country, very seldom do mine come back showing delivery.
Canada Post is very slow anyway and with international they are extra slow, I've also found that it depends where it crosses the border at, Seattle and Detroit seem to be very slow, New York is a little better but not by much.

Well, I would fill a complain to USPS. There's no point to pay extra for tracking number, when the tracking is not done.

When we request a tracking number here (Canada), the package is scanned at every post facility is pass by, it is also scanned by customs when entering the customs, then when it leave the customs and is distributed to Canada post. Customs processing is slow, about 2 to 5 days.

I don't see why it's not the same way in US, that is a service you are paying for.

As for the delay, it is normal delay. items are ship using ground delivery, unless paying for express service. Crossing the country from one side to the other in car if you never stop to pee or sleep take over three days. There's no mail processing during weekend, so expect about 5 or 6 days for a package to cross the country.

So a delay of about 10 to 15 days from US to Canada destination is normal. but over a month, nope.
