Feeling isolated!

I have purchased a machine off e-bay, and I am based in Brisbane, Australia.

The machine (I am guessing) is a model from the 80's as it is not a manual flip version, but also not one of the most modern ones. It does have a screen display in the middle and by dropping balls into the appropriate holes can get this to tick over. I have supplied power to the machine and we get lights and sound, but when I turn the knob nothing happens to promote the balls into play.

Does anyone know of a person in Australia that may be familiar with, and able to help me out with, this type of machine. I will post a photo of the machine tomorrow (it is located off site).

Make sure that you are touching the metal on the knob at the same time you turn it. I have a machine from the late 80's that sounds similar to what you describe, and I had the same issue at first. Everything lit up when connected to power, but the balls wouldn't shoot. Then by accident I touched the metal on the knob while activating the shooter and B-I-N-G-O!!

Could it be a missing dongle?
Look on the back of the machine, usually on the lower half. Does it look like there is an open computer connector there about 1.5 inches long by 1/4 inches wide? If so, your dongle is missing. The dongle is necessary to make the shooter operate. Look in the shipping box for the dongle. If you find it (looks either like a small grey/white/black box with a computer connector on it or a small pc board type thing with a computer connector on one side) plug it in.

Would you say, when looking onto the back of this machine, that this one needs a dongle?

The machine in the pics in the link doesn't look to me to be a CR (card reader) machine, so it wouldn't need a dongle..

Have you pulled the control knob apart to check for a broken wire?

Maybe the knobs ground wire is broken.

Check the shooter motor wires and connections.

Is there a ball jammed in the shooter area?
