    Default Completed Crab Machine

Here's the photos from the completed crab machine. The first is a reminder of what I started with, the second is the parts all over my work bench and the rest are the finished product. This is the first machine where I completely dissassembled the mechanics.

It belongs to my cousin.. but he moved to Georgia... so maybe I get to 'baby sit' it a while!

Wow!! It looks absolutely AWESOME, Rusty!! Just like new. And the cell looks like it's in perfect condition.

I hope you get to "babysit" for a good long time.

Looks great Rusty! How do you get up the nerve to start taking those pieces off? That is my biggest sticking point to restoring my 4 (shhhh) vintages...and I really want to.

hey who. just take lots and lots of pictures. it also helps to have 2 of the same machine for reference. if you get stuck you can always refer to our machines.

If I hadn't already had some expirence on the same type machines I would have never attempted it. Also, if you can see it, when I pulled each piece off I put all the screws and clips and such next to each piece. I also put the pieces down 'in order' so that the top row had what came off first, the second row next and the bottom row the parts that came off last. Then putting it back together, I just 'go backwards'.

Sounds simple huh! Well.. I did have to pull of at least one (OK, maybe two) parts that I put on out of order.

Thanks for all the great comments.

If you don't have a video camera then lots and lots of photos work too. I take closeups of the part before and after I remove it from the machine. I then take photos as I disasemble the part. Last machine I did I had over 100 digital phots during the dismant.

Wow... that's a lot of photos!

For those of you new to the addictions, I would just that say that your first machine is an adventure, your next is a bit easier and before long, you'll be pulling and replacing out of habit. Of course, it is easier if you have the same brand/type of machine for each subsequent restoration.

But I guess that presupposes that one will end up with multiple machines. But, they are like Lays tater chips right!!!

    Rusty,
I was reading a printout of random instructions and other bits of info that I just received with a PF machine. Contained in the printout was the story of a guy who refinished a "Crab" machine also. Anyway a Japanese friend of his recognized the crab and monkey graphics as an old Japanese childhood story called "The Feud of the Monkey and Crab". The full story can be found at Chronicles of a Pachinko Machine Restoration - ClassicPlastic.net.

Thanks Emma. The site you speak of is highly thought of here at PachiTalk. I actually found that site before I found this one when I was looking for information after purchasing my first machine. I thought his story was great and read it all. When my cousin showed me his I immediately recognized it as the one on ClassicPlastic.

I do appreciate you including the link as others who may find this thread BEFORE they find ClassicPlastic and can go read his story.
