    Hello ShockSystem;
Nice collection. I had the "shark hunter" when I was a teen. Wish I never got rid of it but I brother used my Pachinko balls for slingshot and in the early 80's the ball were impossible to get.

Default Vintage Machine Restoration and Modification

I'm sorry to hear that the machine is gone. I had never seen one like it before. I'm not sure if I'm going to modify it or restore it. The cell is heavily cracked and the face and feature are very sun bleached - The mechanism is actually in good shape with exception of one lever (I can recreate it).

I admit using pachinko balls as slingshot ammo as well - I had no idea that they were valuable or hard to get. Unfortunately I also had my childhood pachinko machines burned up in a fire years ago. This batch of distressed units that were basically given to me has returned my interest in these fun and exciting machines.

I now own two modern pachinkos as well.

    Hello Everybody!

Why does getting "promoted" at work seem to translate into; You get to spend less time doing cool stuff you like?

I've spent hours and hours rewiring equipment at work - and that kinda' destroyed my will to do any more at the end of the day.

I think I have found some new energy and interest - So now it's time to get the bench back in order and finish this one up so I can start with the next generation of ideas!

After reviewing your progress, may I say I am thoroughly impressed! I've often thought of modifying some of my old machines, and you've given me quite a few good ideas. I've recently changed out my bulbs to led's on one of my machines, but nothing as extensive as you've done. Well done!

Wow, I had not contemplated that I started this project about a year ago, and worked so hard to innovate.

Well, it looks like I will have to dawn the gloves and make sure this thing is completed. In many ways I feel irritated and angered that my time has been pulled from a project that I was both frustrated by, drawn to and loved so much. It goes to show you, "life can get in the way of living".

I have plans to complete the design as originally intended - and I have new designs to improve the next "Franken-Pachi"

Thank you everyone, for not only reading, but commenting and helping me learn to innovate and build!

During my hiatus, I spent hundreds of hours working on repairing and improving very mission critical specialized electronics worth hundreds of thousands of dollars. I felt reasonably satisfied. My work was without error. I feel that I did an excellent job and it took several months before I was even thanked by the entity - For a mission critical job that can afford no mistakes, no errors and has no forgiveness and is operational 24 hours a day - No Down time.

That is no excuse for the lack of communication to you, my friends on my part.

I also realized I spent about $300 and... well, a lot of time on a random project that I loved, and received an overwhelming warm and receptive response from people that are just hobbyists, that enjoy unusual things like me.

People read, had interest in, and commented about what I wanted to create based on nothing more than a whim and interest in a little known "collector" hobby and my ability to modify and "distort" it into something not even new, but different.

I know I have not been around for the community - and for some that generated genuine concerns - There should be none... other than the fact that I was pulled away and distracted from a great community that had no other interest except sharing with me fun and enthusiasm.

My little take on the world will return. The "episodes" (and tantrums) as it was so well put, will return (thanks Chewy). I am working on creating dedicated time to the projects that I enjoy. I had not realized how much everyone my have been interested until I looked at the hit counter and reviewed the comments and found only positive remarks, interest and encouragement for my project.

No trolls, no jerks, no fools. Only new friends that have interest in allowing each other to enjoy something unusual and unique.

Thank you very much - everyone!

You don't know how much it means to me.

    hey shock

    welcome back!!!

sorry to hear that your job was taking so much of your time, but I can tell from your pachinko work that you did a precise, exacting job on the equipment. hope your boss appreciates you half as much as we do!!

you must check out the vintage section, as there have been great advances in restorations since you were active. I did a summary in january that caught them up to that point. sioux has since done some beautiful laminated wood work on his frankenpachi.

a couple of us are trying to wire up boards to recreate arepachi's, too.

I incorporated some EL panels in my visible powerflash (that was a new technology to me).

looking forward to your posts! we can start up the old theme songs again... mission impossible, 6 million dollar pachi, etc.
