Default mame project still coming along

There sure is alot of work to the cabinet I'm building. Part of that is my famous "design as you go" technique. I've added 4 cooling fans and beginning to neaten up the wiring on the inside. Here's a couple of pics:

Well, its been almost a week ago and Im still poking along. I keep finding little stuff that needs tweaking. I'm still messing with some small design issues and cosmetics because I didn't plan ahead. I should have a couple of pics up by tonight though. I'm still working on only one side of the cabinet. Hopefully, after everything gets worked out, the other side will go much faster.

Well, I still need to put some more clearcoat on the finish and armour all the vinyl. Minor paint touchup also. Well wife broke the 1/4 smoked glass I bought before I could even install it. I had to put it on just to see how it looked along with a bezel I made. I started aluminum edge banding on control box because corners are getting worn already and I haven't even used it yet. Here's a couple of pics.

Those pics are terrible. Here's a couple with natural light this morning. My screen is crystal clear, I think the only way to capture that is in darkness with no flash? Well today I'm gonna relax and continue to program it, and not even look at a power tool.

    LOOKS GREAT!!!

You're gonna love it. It's great for parties too. All you need to do is add a coin mech and then let the money roll in.

I still have the other side to do...It's an exact image of this side, then finish programming front end loader and Daphne emulator, then install the Ipac4 and hook it all up and program it. I also need to cover the other controller box with vinyl and install buttons and sticks. (you know this part is real time consuming in itself) Then I'm putting blue leds hidden underneath the table side overhangs for accent. Gotta order new glass, add about 3 or 4 more coats of poly, apply touch up paint...Then I will be done. So theres still alot of work to keep me happy

    One word of advise!!

make sure you finish it before you start the extensive beta testing

I see what you mean. I'm caught up in something else now and don't feel like building. It's all been fun though, and kept me busy.

did you build your cabinet from scratch?i built mine from an existing xenophobe cabinet which required 3 days of bodywork and paint to make it look mint.i would probably have been better off building a new cabinet instead.i like youngjedi's idea of wiring a coin mech to your i-pac so you can have others help pay for your machine. i wired in the existing coin door on mine.

yes I built it with no plans. I did look at a picture and got some ideas from this: Surface Tension's New Arcade Coffee Table - Born Rich

I did some mods though, I have 2 drawers, and mine is taller. It looks like you'd have to sit on the floor to play that one. I would have probably been further along if I had just broken down and got a flatscreen monitor, but I love the experience of fabrication.

I never wish to wire another mame cabinet again..

if you use an ipac spend the few extra bucks and get the wire harness and then its just connect it up..

very much worth the time saved..

You did a great job wiring. When I did it, I turned on a movie, sat in front for the tv, and prepped all my wires. then just snapped them in.

Pick up a wire tube (home depot...black with a slit all the way down) and group the wires into nice manageable harnesses.
    Looking good!

you told me that along time ago, but I couldn't wait and I wired the first controller. Now it was time to do the second and I still didn't order one so I went through it again.

Found some tube like you were talking about, routed harness, added aluminum edge. This side is done! (except for reinforcing the doors). The other side is going very quick now because I'm not repeating any mistakes and I've already done it once.
