Default comet II fish, with special lights

    hi guys.

for this vintage restoration, I upgraded to a blinking LED for the low ball indicator. this way, it's easy to tell i'm low, and I can use one incandescent bulb that lights both red and orange (I like the colors this way)

if it worked, I uploaded a reduced size mp4 video below. if it doesn't work, i'll upload as part of a longer video about this restore on youtube.

the blinking LED's have the blinky part built in. I just added a resistor and it worked. way coool!

p.s. turn your head to the left at the end of video, it imported wrong, but this is pix of wiring on back.

    hey who

if it's not understandable, then I must not have explained it right.

you can replace any of the incandescant bulbs on the vintage pachinkos with an LED.

you just need an LED ($1 at radio shack) and a resistor (for 9 volts, a 200-300 ohm is good, for 20 cents at radio shack)

wire the plus side of the LED, the longer leg, to the positive terminal and the shorter one to minus.

advantage of LED's - only about 25 mA current, so 1/10 th of an incandescant. with this, hardly any heat to burn up the plastics and the batteries last 10 x's as long.

the LED I stuck in this machine had built in blinking. bought them surplus somewhere. all I did was add a resistor and I have a blinking low tray indicator.

I just love putting LED's into the machines. suppose it sort of tricks them out, like heading towards more modern, but I do all the additions in a non destructive way, so a purist could put the machine back to "stock" if they wanted to.

    hope that makes more sense.

Thanks Mudfud... I'm not electrically slow, but I am a little electronically slow. Go figure.

So where does the resistor come in to play?

    Well Radio Shack has this
    High-Brightness 7-Color 5mm Blinking LED - RadioShack.com

3.6 v dc and self blinking or ...you can choose which color that it will glow steady.

Or if you need a white light here's on at the same voltage as 2 cells (D,C,AA,AAA).
