Default Walnut Media When to use new? When Cleaning tokens

So I purchased some media for my rock tumbler. Let them run all night. Fixed alot of my first attempt and about 1/2 came out shiney. The other 1/2 was different levels of shiney. So I stuck them back in. However, the media is now a dark color. So do I need to replace the media or can I keep using the same stuff? Also were does a thread like this go? I went to post it under problems. But it wanted a machine and model number. Etc and since this is not 100% specific to a machine. Figured I would ask. One other thing. I have some tokens were the shiney is rubbing off. Has anybody ever painted there tokens back to silver and gold color for that or does it cause problems?

    Thanks,
    Josh

I have found that the longer you use it the better it works.

    Try powdered polishing compound (rouge)
    Then wash tokens afterwards.
