Default Goldeneye pinball with cabinet wear

One of the machines on my want list is a Goldeneye. A seller not that far from me has sent me a bunch of pictures of his machine. He's asking $1,200 for it. The only problem I see from the pictures is that there is significant wear on the left and right side of the cabinet near the flipper buttons. It looks like wear holes have been carved out. Has anyone seen this before? Is this easy to repair, such as with wood puddy, sanding, and some touch-up paint from a hardware store? I don't have a good sense for what the price of this machine should be with these blemishes on the cabinet. Any thoughts or suggestions??? Thanks!!

I don't think those are holes. I think the graphic is worn off down to the cabinet. Touch up paint would fix it easily. As for me, it wouldn't realy bother me because it's not something I would see while playing. I would be more concerned with the playfield.

I would also check for broken Plastics on the Play Field.

It looks like its just excessive wear, but if it is an actual hole your idea of wood filler or putty would work. Once its sanded nicely you can purchase decals for Goldeneye to cover up the blemish.

Wow! That's incredible. Thank you so much for providing that link. I believe everyone is correct that it is most likely decal wear rather than holes on the cabinet. I'm going to check it out in a few hours.

I just came back from checking out the machine. The cabinet decals looked to be in pretty good shape aside from the wear near the flipper buttons. On the playfield, the only heavy wear that I saw was just below the flippers where a magnet sits under the playfield to catch the ball from time to time. As for the plastics, the helicopter was missing two of the four propeller pieces.

Right now, I'm leaning toward buying it. There's only one other Goldeneye that I've found in my area and the seller wants $800 more for it than the one I described above. Sure, I wish this one was perfect, but maybe it would be best to save the $800 and try to buy a replacement helicopter, new flipper decals, etc. on line to clean this one up a bit.

That wear near flipper buttons seems to be just paint damage. Easy to touch-up, does not have impact on gameplay.

What comes to correct price of Goldeneye, Mr.pinball 2009 price guide suggests 1750 USD, and price trend is going up (Price is for very good condition machine). 1200 USD does not sound bad to me. Go for it

Any decent Pin that has been in circulation, will have wear near the flips. Pay attention to the playfield, and the lights, and coils. Replacement parts for recent machines shouldn't be too much of a problem to find.

The ONLY way to get one perfect is to buy it in the box, and that costs $$$ usually over 3k.

All good points on a used pin!! Make sure you play a few games, turn the power on and off and find out if anyone has shopped the game. Here is a link to some other Goldeneyes for sale around the country.

I thought I'd post a few pictures of the latest addition to my game room. Thanks to everyone for their posts. I think I will order a new helicopter and maybe those red replacement decals for the flippers, but I'll probably have to live with that small playfield wear on top of the magnet. Overall, I think its in pretty decent shape.

Default Goldeneye pinball - cracked plastic

I had a bit of an accident playing my Goldeneye pinball machine this weekend. One of my shots broke off a piece of plastic near one of the ramps. This broken piece seems important because it has an attached prop that lights up during game play. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this...or am I screwed? My first thought was to try krazy glue, but the plastic pieces are so thin that I didn't think they would reattach. As a short-term fix, I was going to try reattaching the pieces using some very small black binder clips. Thanks for your input!
