Default Plexi or glass... your opinion

The pachinko I own (and the only one I have ever played) has a single sheet of plexi-glass.

Is glass better? Or is the plexi an improvement? Does the sound of a sphere on glass sound better than plexi?

Is the look or feel improved by one over the other?

Just curious what this board thinks...

I think that the glass is noisier, you hear the plinks and they are sharper.

but, I like the glass b/c is it clearer and won't scratch over time.

my older plexi's have scratches where the balls rub a lot.

guess it's individual preference, but I would guess that glass is cheaper than plexi?

I have to go with the glass crowd. I just don't like the way Plexiglas looks after a while.

    My preference... is both.

In all my machines I put plexi on the inside and glass on the outside. By having both some of the noise level is diminished and it was the way it was originally designed. By having two pieces, it prevents the player from tapping/banging on the cover in an attempted to skew the odds in their favor.

I've just received another machine... post coming up soon... and when I got it there were two panels, one plexi and one glass. Not sure why as the owner received it that way many moons ago.

I had my ginza single shot show up with 2 pieces of new plexiglass. I didn't like it and took one out for another machine. the plexi seems to block the light more (especially two sheets), and i like having the rim to grab when I open the window (this was was pretty stuck at first)

not only does having the second sheet keep you from cheating by tapping, it also makes a magnet harder to use to direct the balls. anyone know if people try to cheat that way in japan? certainly crossed my mind...

Thumbs up Re: Plexi or glass... your opinion

Two sheets of double thick glass is the way to go!

It makes your machine more original with all of the sounds that make it

Of cource I add a twist to it. I use one way glass. That way those tricky little packinko balls never know when I am watching.

    Now THAT is funny!!

    my $.02
I'm kinda with Rusty as in I use both as well, only opposite. I still retain the purpose of preventing taps to change sphere paths), but , like Hanabi, I LOVE the ping-ping-ping the spheres make on the glass. Kinda like a small hailstorm.

I put the plexi on the 'outside' so it protects the glass pane and by doing so It's always hailing! Also, the plexi doesn't get scratched that way!

    Try it, you'll like it!

I like the sound of glass. Also for my 1950s machines it's more authentic.

I use double panes of glass when done restoring.

I use A single pane of Plexi while working on the machines as its easier to work with being that much lighter and the edges wont slice your fingers off.

I have one sheet of Plexi for all of the different door glass shapes just for restoration, repair work and nail adjusting.

I never touch the glass with bare hands while cleaning and reinstalling. Whats the point of having fingerprints on glass that you are cleaning? See Im anal that way.

Greetings Dark Siders ! I myself like to have the glass pane near the playfield and have the glass round edged cost a little more but worth it and plexi on the one nearest me the player .

I'm all for the glass inside and the plexi outside, that's the way I did my machine. I do like the sound of the glass better. Mine originally only had the plexi.
