Default pachinko jewelry... just late for valentine's

    OK. my lastest brain storm...

pachinko jewelry! the wife said she would even wear a pair of earrings if I made them for her.

was at Michael's craft store, found the jewelry fittings area (normally an area that I wouldn't set foot in), bought some little cages for beads and some springs with rings on them. I am gluing the beads between the springs with Goop (my favorite glue) to see if it will be strong enough. if not, there are these things called bead caps, that look like flowers and you bend the petals and glue them on.

after the goop dries, I plan to use black string (real jewelers use black silk cord), to make a necklace, bracelet, etc.

I picked the most interesting balls, with white paint in the embossed areas to show the designs more.

what do you think? would the girls wear them?

Since I don't wear earrings I have no idea... but would the weight of the balls be a bit much to dangle from the ear?

I wonder how difficult it would be to drill a hole through a few and put'm on a necklace? I have a drill press... with a holding vice... I'd have to center punch it first... hmmmmm...

yeah. drilling the hole through it was another thought, but then they wouldn't be "stock", right?

I've seen things dangling off some women's ears that are a lot heavier than pachinko balls.

    what does your wife think?

That is not a style of jewelry that I wear, but I think they are neat looking and have a lot of potential. Great idea!

drilling threw the chrome will be hard verry hard (worked in a chrome shop in a prior life)

my wife make glass beads for sale on ebay (amazing stuff i think)

when she adds caps and post we, i use 5 min epoxy to attach them

    way stronger then goop

if my wifes ears were pierced i would make her a set

    nice idea Chewy

I wonder, if I went to some cheap earring shop (Clair's comes to mind) and purchased a pair that had a dangling ball/pearl I could disconnect the pearl/ball and replace with a Pachinko ball per MoPar's suggestion on epoxy.

    hmmmm...

OK.. new contest! EVERYONE create some piece of jewlery out of Pachinko parts and/or balls and post them in this thread. Photos are a must and they have to worn. So if your gonna make a eyebrow piercing out of a Panchinko pin, we gotta see you wearing it!

where do you get your bead caps? do they make them smaller than 3/16 in diameter? I could only find these floral things at Michael's.

    Here's my entry!

I thought the idea of jewelry from a pachinko ball was just too cool to pass up. As I discussed this thread with my kids, my eldest (17yo) told me that Hobby Lobby sold pieces to make jewelry with. So... to Hobby Lobby we went! I purchased the pieces you see in the first photo. Total cost there was about $10 and the pieces you see are the remaining pieces AFTER I made the ear rings. So I can make at least one more set!

The second photo is of the completed set. I didn't have any 'super glue' so I used to 'Gorilla Glue' instead. It is not as thin nor clear like the super glue would be but it was too late to run to the store! If I make another it will be done with super glue!

The third photo is the earing being worn by my wife! Woo Hoo. Yes, I had to beg her to wear it. They are quite heavy and she stated they were heavier than she would prefer to wear. But hey, who said it had to be practical right?

OK. here's the necklace for mcknli7

this one is dark chocolate. I like the contrast with the silver better, and you can see the writing.

p.s. I'm a T shirt kind of guy/gal, but it looks better on the wife with a V neck... also, that's cat fur on my T shirt. the black cat thinks he is a neck warmer at night.
