I helped built a few of those, some other dads put a lot more time into them, my sons did win a few races only to get eliminated in the end.

I wanted a center feature for the pachinko style backboard. I made the wheel in the middle so it will turn when a coin lands on it. This also solves the problem with the coins landing in the middle where the payout is. Now the coins will be diverted to the sides. They can still go anywhere by chance but this evens the odds.

    And here is another vidio.

OK, The pinwood derby race is in the morning. We just finished the cars. Here are the two new ones for this year, and I will race the first one we made (in the Old Timers Race). I love the first one because it had my daughters favorite things OSU, Bluejackets hocky, Herbie and it is a convertible Mustang.

Here are the cars from past years.

The blue one had metalic blue paint and gold pinstripes.

The guitar was also the same daughters favorite things USA flag, and guitar.

The cell phone was my younger daughter's first car. Talking is her favorite thing.

I admit that I do the wood cutting, but they do the sanding and painting and the design is all them.

Did I just hijack my own thread?

I'll get back to making my game after the race.

    And the results are in!

younger daughter got 2nd place in speed in her age group..

Older daughter got 3rd in speed in her age group
and 1st place in design over all cars.

I got 2nd place in speed for my age group.

There were 3 age groups and we happen to fall into each group.

We all had a great time.

My youngest was on top of the world when she got her trophy, but when her sister got a second one the tears came out. We had a talk and she felt better when she saw how many people were racing and how few trophies there were. Then she felt lucky and happy again.

    the weinermobile is always cool

I met the orginal Little Oscar in Chicago in the 50's when he came to the butcher shop I worked in after school with the weinermobile

and then met him again many years later when the weinermobile was at the Wisconsin state fair.

I'm back to the coinpusher in my free time.

I added the center spinner and several nails for the coins to bounce off of and slow down. That is working very well.

At work they finally had a large enough piece of clear plastic that I could salvage ( I'm sure not gonna spend any money on this thing now. It's a GREEN Game!

The clear plastic I got is something new for us. It is called something like PetG or something. It cuts nicely with hand power tools and seems strong. Putting the glass on cut way down on the noise.

    Hey digital,

Check out this add in Dallas!

    Push-A-Coin Arcade Game

Of course I think yours is far superior, just thought you might find this one of interest. The price is to be noted to!

Thanks Rusty, I have seen those before and I think that might be the inspiration for me starting this project. I always loved those machines and when I saw one at the store I thought it looked possible to make one.
As for the price, I would get it just for the neetness of it. My kids have the claw machine version of that same style.

I have everything done but the angle trim to hold the glass on.

My family came over today and were shocked to see what I made.

My Bro-in-law said he had some scrap angle pieces I could have, so soon I can call it complete.

No, I'm a one hit wonder.

But I did see a thing at a garage sale that is for a grill (to turn your meat) that would make a great motor for one of these. It was only a $1 and I thought about it. The wife saw me looking at it and said "That wouldn't get put on the grill would it?" We both laughed and the people at the sale didn't know what we were thinking.
