    Cool Making a game.

OK, it's not going to be Pachi but it will go nicely between my Pachinko and my Pachilios.
I'm going to try to make a "Coin Pusher" (for tokens of course).

Has anyone here tried this? I'm guessing on how they work. The last time I saw or played one has been about ten years ago. That one had a big toy bulldozer to do the pushing. I saw online some different styles and what I am gonna try looks the most easy to make.

Any ideas would help, right now I am just cutting and trying to see what works.

Don't forget the "hidden" side hoppers that go to the 'house'. If you look at the commercial pushers you can see where there is open spots on the side that is generally covered so it's not apparent what going on. I think the coin pusher is a great idea and one that would be pretty easy to make.

Make sure you record the measurements make some plans we can all download!

you will also need a lip on the edge slanted up slightly so the clasic big stack of coins builds up on the edge tempting you to play

    Question for digital1 and doc

what is the point of the flat "shelf" on the pusher side of the dozer?? (seen on your prototype and the one in the vid) the ones i played at the fair (when i was a lad) was shaped like a dozer blade..actually they were toy dozers. U loaded your chance coins threw a shoot that swang back and forth allowing u to roll the coin kinda where u wanted it.. wont the coins stack up on your shelf and not fall to the play field???

if u have it run as fast as the one in the vid then i guess they will eventually fall into play

the ones i played as a kid also moved way slower

    just curious

I think the 'upper shelf' is a different design. I too remember the quarter push machine at the local "Rice Festival" in Winnie Texas which was like the one you describe. However, the more modern ones I've seen have that upper shelf.

From what I've seen, your coin drops down to land on the upper shelf. As the upper shelf pulls back, the coins are 'stacked up' and push each other off on to the lower shelf. From there they push against each other and finally over the 'winner's edge'.

I think this is the easiest design and gives you 'two levels' of pushing and falling. This is rather neat as several could drop on to the lower level at one time (or none) and give a bigger push. The video referenced has this design.

Hey digital, I got a thought for you. If you make the coin slot(s) where the coins are put in and slide in 'flat' instead of rolling, you can easily make it self selecting by having a section of the track that is just wide enough for the proper size coin to slide down with a hole that the wrong sized coins fall through and down into a coin return.

Also regarding the ones that have the extra shelf, this gives the arcade owners another chance to slow down your wins

Sometimes coins / tokens are pushed from the top shelf and land ON TOP of the other coins on the lower shelf / bottom

This means that they haven't fallen into a position where they can push coins along

I know I always sigh when that happens to me

BTW I only play the penny pushers in the Arcades with the Children, and only the ones that have little cheap prizes scattered amongst the coins

This gives an extra element to play, my little boy always wants to try and win the little cars and similar toys

Wow you guys are great with advice!! Thanks!I have a few ideas that I haven't shown yet. Like the Pachinko style coin drop. The "house advantage" will be at the front edge, when you see your coins fall, the ones at either end will miss the funnel to the change tray. If I don't like the payout then I adjust the funnel. At least that is the plan.

This is a slow project because my wife thinks I spend too much time with my toys. Now I'm making a new one.

I think I got the motor figured out. I took a small one from the kids "Knex" toy set. Hooked it to a shaft, attached a round thing, put a barring on the edge of the round thing, cut a slot in the board that will slide back and forth.

The baring goes around in a 3 inch circle and that goes into the slot in the board, forceing the board to slide 3 inches forward and back.

I have a vidio but don't know where to post it.
