    Default Popcorn Machine and Cart.

Popcorn Cart by "Great American Popcorn Company".

Item number: 6040 GAP Full Pasadena

    Purchase Date: 30 January 2009

    Arrival Date: 5 February 2009

    Condition upon arrival: Excellent

First I would like to say I am very satisfied with this purchase. But does this machine really deliver what was advertised. "Tommy" is without a doubt a spin doctor like Texas Auction. And writes one hell of a ad. So lets delve into the company, the product and how it all ties together.

    The Company:

This seller has three ways in which to sell their products:

Ebay: eBay Store - eBay Store - Great American Popcorn: Table Top Bar Style, Full Popcorn Machine with Cart, Supplies, Parts, Accessories

Great American Popcorn Company: Great American Popcorn Company -- Antique style popcorn machines, countertop poppers and popcorn poppers with carts. Full line of popcorn poppers and accessories. - Home

Discount Tommy: Discount Tommy, photo equipment, popcorn machines, drywall equipment and more..

The prices for the same product on all three sites will vary. With shipping included in the price with both Ebay and GAPC. An example of this would be the machine I purchased. (Note - The ebay price seems to fluctuate.)

    Ebay: $287.92
    http://cgi.ebay.com/RED-ANTIQUE-STYLE-POPCORN-POPPER-MACHINE-CART-8-OUNCE_W0QQitemZ220355953848QQihZ012QQcategoryZ46592QQcmdZVie wItemQQ_trksidZp1742.m153.l1262

GAPC: $339.95 Red Pasedena 8 Ounce Antique Popcorn Machine and Cart

Discount Tommy: $249.95 plus shipping $54.95 (total $304.90) Welcome to Discount Tommy

    The Machine:

GAPC 6040. According to their website and ads this level machine gives you tempered glass, all metal gears, and whisper quiet. The company further states buying from them will give you thicker glass by 40%. Premium grade steel which is suppose to 30% thicker and safer packing.

(Note: I give the follow measurements in case someone else buys a competing product.)

    Tempered Glass: yes (3mm)

    All metal gears: yes

Whisper quiet: yes When this machine is on, you can barely hear it!!!

    Wattage: 860

Steel: (1.5mm) This is dependent on were you measure the steel. The corner pieces that hold the glass are thick and sturdy.

Wheels: 457.2 mm high by 31mm wide (rubber)
Packaging and shipping: 91 lbs - The box upon arrival had many holes and tears. (Not unlike our pachi's) But the machine and cart arrived unharmed. All unpainted surfaces come with a film covering. (Always fun to remove)

Like I started off saying, I am satisfied with the purchase of this machine. The directions to put it together are a little lacking but goes together easy enough.

    How it works:

The popping instruction state to place the oil into the kettle. Then warm the machine for 3 - 4 minutes. Followed by placing the kernels into the kettle. I modified this technique just a little by following the helpful hints posted here. I waited for the steam to rise (90 secs) then placed the 8 oz of kernels into the kettle. WOW...the whole process only took 3 - 4 minutes. At the end of which I had enough to fill 3 large bags.

For the first attempt I used canola oil which produces a very tasty popcorn, but left a little oily after taste. I have purchase several types and will be trying them over the next couple weeks.

**There is several machines on ebay that look very simular to this one. And also cost close to the same price.**

If 8 oz is right ya got your self a great buy as most 4 to 6 os are around that , I have a Gpld Medal 4 oz that will do 6 oz for more than that from the MFG. Note get yourself some reg popcorn oil from a popcorn mfg and reg popcorn salt as it wont burn and givs a buttery taste. Have fun with it
These are my opinions and no body elses and you can't have them

It is a 8oz one. Our Sam's Club is currently carring a 4 oz model by Nostalgia. The Nostalgia is about half the size of this one.

Well, In order to save some cash and have a little fun in the workroom, I decided to build my own popcorn cart. I started it a day ago and am ready for tweaking, sanding, and paint. Here are some pics...

OK, Project done (mostly). I am going to order some lettering "Fresh Popcorn" for the front, can't decide on the font...thinking Jurasic park or evil dead.
