Default New guy here with Sankyo Adam & Eve :)

Hi everyone! I'm new here, found the place because I was looking for help with a machine of course. I received this one as a gift from a coworker because he knew I lived in Japan and he didn't have room for it any more. Lucky me! I haven't been able to find any info on this model, so I'm hoping someone can help.

I haven't fed the balls in yet to see what works or doesn't because I have NO idea what I'm doing. The couple of "issues" that may or may not be are:
1- There are just cut wires on the back. Whaaaat? I've seen pics here of batteries, etc. Is that just the standard way to handle them?
2- I can't open the front window because it's locked. It's a circular lock (pic attached) and I can't open it. I actually have an old PC key that fits in the hole, but it doesn't actually open the lock. I can open the mechanism that allows the machine to swing forward by releasing the switch in the back. But no go with the front glass.
3- The mystery piece. It came in the bag of balls. Don't know where it goes.

Attaching a pic of the label too, it says 昭和52年12月, so December 1977. It seems in pretty good shape with the exception of the mystery piece. All the plastic is intact on the back covering the mechanism, etc. Please let me know what you guys think! Thanks a bunch.

In your 4th picture of the full back, the front glass latch it the silver wire part with the loop in it. pull this up and the door should open.

The mystery piece is a counterweight that attaches upper hopper empty mech in the last picture (the white part with the switch), it attaches to the right part of that (you can see where it's broken), pointing to the right.

The date on the machine is an expiration date, so subtract 3 years:

Looks like a manufacture date of 12/1974

If you haven't read the 'How a vintage Pachinko works' take look at it. Your machine will work very similiar to the ones in that thread.

Strart by cleaning everything. A good cleaning NEVER hurts and you will familiarize yourself with the machine as you do so. Use glass cleaner and paper towels and q-tips. DO NOT USE SOAP AND WATER!

Now, let's see if I can help with your wiring.

1- There are just cut wires on the back. Whaaaat? I've seen pics here of batteries, etc. Is that just the standard way to handle them?
First the electricals are not necessary for the machine to do everything it needs to do except light up during a jackpot or when the hopper empties. There are LOTs of threads about this subject.

Maybe if I describe how it works you might be able to see what's wrong. When you 'pull up' on the catch it 'swivels' two latches AND pushes the latches outward. The latches look like the letter 'F'. If when you maniuplate the latch the individuals pieces move, I suspect the door is just 'hung'.

3- The mystery piece. It came in the bag of balls. Don't know where it goes.
If you look at the last photo in your post, this piece goes there. This is the counter weight for the 'hopper empty' ramp lever.

Welcome to PachiTalk and please ask more and you'll find lots of helpful folks!

    I'm not sure I follow:

1 is what I can push up to open the whole door (not the glass)
2 is the lock that I can't get to turn because of the no key
3 is some kind of balacing thing
4 is just holding the plastic housing on
5 is where the myster piece attaches, I see now!
6 is an empty hole leading to the front

Am I missing another one? o_O

If your trying to open just the glass door on the front, the latch is to the far right of the back.

That #3 part is to let you/the parlor people know that the upper hopper is empty. It should turn on a light and stop the shooter from shooting balls.

    Welcome to PachiTalk MrMuffin!!

I'm just going through my first ever restoration process with a Vintage Sanyo (same age as yours) and it really seems quite simple to do, just remember to take lots of pics for referring back to if need be

You will discover lots of other Members here that are restoring them too and are happy to offer any advice you may need

Good Luck with restoration and I look forward to seeing your progress too

Don't have a lot of time atm, but I've cleaned it up a little, reattached the weight, and tried filling er up to see how everything works. There's an area near the ball intake where things are getting stuck, but other than everything is operational. Just have to figure out the lights, and the one sticking area... and some more cleaning.

Let me know if you still need help with the wiring. I have one very similar to yours and had to figure out the lights on my own. FYI the hole in the wood in your 7th picture should have a bulb in it. Also, in your 9th pic if you look at the area with the little group of cut wires and go down and to the left a little I see what looks like a round white plastic plug, on mine that is a hole with a bulb in it. Possibly on yours that white plug or whatever it is should contain a bulb as well. By the way, the wireing is pretty simple and i'd be glad to help.

    Chadandmina,

It's been over a year since the thread was started, so hopefully it's been sorted out by now!
