Thanks guys it makes sense that they would want an overflow basket in there. It was just weird because the other machine didn't have that instead there was a transformer there.

In Japan some machines run on 100v (works OK on 115 here). Others run on 24v provided by the pachislo parlor. The 24v machines need transformers added. The easiest place to put them is where the overflow bin went. Most home users don't need the overflow bin anyway. I like it when the vendor does a little extra work and mounts the transformer out of the way so you can still have the overflow bin.
