Default Amazing new Pachislo - Shake II

Well, I thought I'd post about this amazing new Pachislo I got from Rita - Shake II. It's a 2007 model and I can see the direction the new machines are going. It's like having a 'bonsai concert' in a pachislo. At certain times the screen actually moves (back? up?) and the screen appears to be set back in the machine. I've even seen it go into a 'live concert' mode where there are 3-D pieces of a 'concert stage' where Mr. Honey and Sabot (they look like a peanut and a cucumber) run around and set up pyrotechnics for the performance! No, I'm not insane or PUI (Pachisloing Under the Influence). This pachislo rocks!!! I think it's a rap theme or something but it's in Japanese so I'm a bit mystified. There are some English words though, including at least one English cuss word.

I tried to get a '.mov' file of the 3-D effect on my camera but 3-D doesn't show up on the movie and the file was 10 mb. And the file from my camera was '.mov' which I guess I can't post and my camera doesn't record sound . Some stuff appears on youtube under "Shake2" such as YouTube - Shake2.

Thanks for giving us a taste of your new Pachislo. I have been here for a few years and have seen PachiTalk go through phases, and I've been excited about each of them.

When I first came, there was much talk of Pachislo and a few members getting into the mysterious Pachinko Machines. Then that was all the rage thanks to a very fast paced, but short lived buyers market. It was very exciting to see what these magnificent machines offered.

A few members had Vintage machines that they spoke of, and it inspired others to pick them up as they became available. The restoration projects were really a sight to see. Now, we are talking of Vintages machines more and more and seeing the new owners become creative with them. I think it is fabulous to bring these old beauties back to life!

Now perhaps, the hobby will come full circle and there will be much excitement about the new Pachislos coming out. I will be very interested in hearing about any of the new models. There truly is something for everyone in this hobby!

    Thanks for your perspective, Dattia!

I was just playing Shake II again tonight and I can't get over the difference between this new machine and the older ones. I guess the oldest machine I have is a King Camel, which I also cherish. But man, these new machines knock your eyes out! At least Shake II does! I had read about the changes in the newer models on this website:
Pachinko Pachislo Pachipro - Page 7 - Japan Forums
and, at least from Shake II, it does appear that "[s]ince the manufacturers are no longer allowed to make machines that payoff big, but have to create ones that do a slow burn, the new machines really do peel your hair back with the lights, sounds, music and variety of reach patterns and things to do."

As far as I'm concerned, if Shake II is any indication, the newer machines are good news for folk that buy the machines for home play. An emphasis on play value over payoff is fine with me! I am delighted with this pachislo! I keep wanting to run out of my pachislo room and tell my wife "hey, look what it's doing now!!!" But I know she just doesn't get it, so I just emerge from my pachislo room with a big smile on my face and say "Hey Sweety, this new pachislo WILL ROCK YOUR WORLD!!! [I know someday she will 'see the light' ]

Every time I show the pachis off to someone that has not seen them, I always seen to end up yelling "look at that!! I have never seen it do that before"

O.k., here's some more. Since I can't use the video option for my camera, I took some still photos to show some of the amazing features of ShakeII!

One photo shows the serial number so we can start a registry. Another photo shows the very innovative (unique?) feature of this Daito pachislo - a huge (7" deep) box that protrudes into the pachislo from the front of the screen. The box is for the 3-D effect I find hard to describe in 2-D. At some points in play, the shutters in front of the screen shut (a la Osu! Banchou or Hihoudin) and the screen moves back (up? tilts? ) and, in this case, shown in another photo, a stage appears deep into the machine. It does other things in with other minigames (many of which I have not yet seen).

Another photo shows Sabot and Mr. Honey having a drink before getting to work on the pre-show (I think they are roadies or some other kind of technicians for the main stars of the pachislo). In another photo I show Mr. Honey and Sabot with headbands lighting fuses for the pre-concert. If they get the pyrotechnics to work correctly, you get to choose which star you want to see perform. I have no idea how many different things this pachislo does, but I am certain just from the choices I am given at certain stages in the game that there are many many things possible. I guess as memory gets cheaper, and gameplay becomes more important, the pachislo makers aim to please.

I've included a photo that shows one of the stars, VJ, on what I learned was called a 'loo' when I was a student in London for six months in 1981. I could recognize the device because of the pull chain to VJ's left.

I don't know how long it will take me to figure out what-all this machine does. Man, when I look at those little 3-5 page play guides for things like Neo Magic Pulsar or Aladdin Evolution, I think that a comparable playguide for this machine would be about 30-50 pages long! Who knows what the future will bring.

if that large box makes it top heavy when the door is open it may be a good idea to bolt the pachislo to the stand.

my fever queen and hanafuda pachislos are both very top heavy with the door open.

Good point Luckydog! It IS frontheavy! I'd hate to loose it from opening it without a lot of ballast (tokens) in the hopper! I'll probably bolt it and my Mu Mu World DX to the stand.

Yes, Hanabi, and the photos just don't do the 3-D justice! I think it's an effect where you just have to be there to experience it! And the loo scene isn't the only thing 'cheeky' about it! It has at least one PG-13 (for language) moment that I've heard so far!

O.k., here's something new. When it's in 'concert' mode the 'skill stop' buttons sounds change to that of "scratching". (Scratching is a DJ or turntablist technique used to produce sounds for some types of music. It was originated by Grand Wizard Theodore, an early hip hop DJ from New York (AMG). ) I found I was able to add to the music of the 'concert' with my 'scratching' by timing my hits of the stop buttons!!! Woo Hoo!!!
