    Default What are the rules?

I'm up an running finally... can someone please explain the rules?

    I have a nishijin-b power-flush/flash.

What are the actual rules of the game?
How many balls do i start with in the lower tray? 20?
How many balls should i use to fill the machine?

I apologize if someone has already asked this question...

    Thank You...

don't know that there are rules per se

if you were in japan at a parlor, you would "rent" the balls for 4 yen each, then "cash in" at 2.5 yen each.

I tend to put about 100 in the tray and see how long I can keep things going. on the powerflash, often times I can hit the "fevers" and run the upper tray out before I run out of balls.

guess if you really wanted to keep score, you could even put one of gaku's counters on the machine (usually used for high volume moderns)

    how do others "keep score"?

My daughters and I play 50/5. Each player gets 50 balls and 5 minutes.
You can stop at any time if you think your luck ran out or if you think the other players will bust.

They get a kick out of it.

I usually get down to 2 or 3 balls left and then start winning until time runs out.

    I have a Nishijin-A.

As pointed out earlier, if you were in Japan, how many balls you start with is totally based on how much money you put down. As for playing them at home, I guess everyone set's the own rules.

Here's what I've done. I took a small clear plastic tube and taped a 'cap' to one end. I then counted out the balls in increments of 10 and put them into the tube makeing a mark at each 10 ball increment. The top mark is at 100 balls. I've run balls through it several times and the count is always accurate. Generally when my wife and I play we just grab a bunch of balls and try to 'empty the machine'. If it's a 'contest' then I give everyone 100 balls and then set a time limit and at then end of time count up who's got the most. I also have a few gold balls that I mix up in the machines and these count as 10 which has a another level of interest... especially when you get carried away and shoot the gold one up the machine knowing you'll never get it back!

    Hope this helps!

When we would compete, we would use this method. One of my machines (at least) Puts the winner balls and loser balls out at different places. So we would start by putting one ball in the center tulip which opened all the tulips. We would then get 10 balls to start. When you finally ran out of balls, we counted the winners. (winners were going in a jar and losers were going in a bucket). It is a lot of fun that way.

I do like the start with so many and a time limit idea. Especially for the machines that don't separate winners. Then you decide when you think you will win.
