    Default C-L-R Chrome rust removal?

I've got some pretty severe rust happening on my chrome.

Is it safe to dip the whole thing in CLR and let it soak?

What will CLR do the the plastic if it comes in contact with it?
Can I soak plastic in clr?

    Thanks!

I don't know about anyone else, but I like to use SOS pads to get rust off of Chrome. It works well for me. You just need to keep water off the cell.

I used a wad of aluminum foil dipped in water and rubbed until it turned gray. Then wipe the gray away and it smoothed out any rough edges and shined the chrome like you wouldn't believe. I thought it would scratch but the foil is softer than chrome.

Cheep and easy is my style.

The CLR will take the rust off the chrome but you will need to polish it after you are done with the CLR. The CLR won't hurt the plastic but I wouldn't dip the whole thing just to be on the safe side. After I'm done with the CLR I always rinse off the metal with water and then dry it real well before polishing the chrome.
