Default confessions of a vintage addict...

well, I think that I said my limit was 8 machines, unless I sold one to get another... and, I couldn't stop myself from reading craigslist... and, I am driving to petaluma now to pick up 3 more machines, for $100.

one is in great condition, the other two are very dirty and I can't tell what shape they are in. I figured they were worth $25 each for parts anyway and that the one with the cracked cell would give me a more challenging restoration project.

soooo. expect more posts later today with details on the lastest additions.

my wife is returning from vacation tomorrow. I might be in a bit of trouble.

perhaps someone would help me by buying some from me?

    (now, where to hide them...)

That Kyoraku looks familiar, just a different center feature.

The first one looks to be a Sanyo, interested in knowing if that part at the top is a light? Not a usual feature of this vintage.

That twist & shoot Kyoraku looks like just the thing I need for my collection (my first two flipper vintages were Kyoraku)

You would have loved the 2/3d's container I got to climb through picking vintages for $20 a piece, at least a couple hundred in there. I think it was over Placerville, Calif way. Did deliver sorting equipment to Petaluma's post office though (nothing to do with pachis, I know, but I like to gab)

Shed a tear for the 100,000's that didn't make it out, to be destroyed or rot away in farmers fields

i heard if the weather goes bad over there that just let them rot rather than picking them when they are ripe...now you have confirmed that myth.

good eye, compirate, I didn't even notice that yellow thing. will post closer pix this afternoon.

the background does look exactly like yours. is yours a twist and shoot?

say owennewton, if I don't keep the jet plane kyoraku, you've got first dibs.

It was several years ago. There was a seller on Ebay selling used Pepsi equipment from the local Pepsi dealers (vending machines, soda fountains, etc) and he was selling pachinkos too. I think they were from a friend who closed the business and he was selling them for him.

i'm baaackkk from petaluma with the goods...

    here's the pix below

quick summary, the kyoraku is a twist and shoot with more electrical stuff for sound and something moving (will figure out later when I plug it in) than my usual vintage machines.

the other two are sanyo comet II's, although one is odd in that it has the jackpot mechanism off to the left side. it says comet II L (left?) on the back.

and, there is a light wired to the upper left corner, compirate, with metal on the frame that matches the metal of the front of the machine - so it must have been stock. maybe that's the low tray indicator to call the ball refiller?

the cell is really cracked and peeling on the one, so I am going to try to restore it by glueing down the pieces with that decopage stuff, then painting in the areas with lost plastic, the clear coating the whole thing - without taking the nails out - this should be an interesting project, eh?

the other comet is missing the top tray completely, so I'll be doing some more fabrication... hmmmm... sheet metal or plastic?

looks like I have my night cut out for me today. should be cleaning and polishing for hours.

hey, I might have that missing piece from the bottom hopper that's missing on my lemur comet now, too.

(only 22 hours before the wife comes home... better start making up some good stories quickly...)

I was looking at the same machines today.

So, how is the "Minty Fresh" machine? What kind is it? How Clean?

I took a look at the pictures too, and i gave them a pass. Wasnt worth the $150 that he was asking for them, and I didn't feel like haggling over it.
If it was a nishijin super deluxe... Maybe...

Glad to see you got them!

the "minty fresh" was the kyoraku, which is pretty clean on the inside.

there are lots of cobwebs and garage debris on the back, so I didn't want to plug it in just yet. the guy said that this had been a present when he was young (he looked about 15 yrs old today), and that it had always worked.

the other two are pretty messed up, so either one becomes a parts machine, or I get real creative making pachinko machine parts. also, I want to experiment on the peeling cell and see if I can find a way to paste back the pieces that are there, fill the in-betweens, and clear coat, maybe with resin, the whole center, without pulling the nails. this will definitely be its own post and video if it works (or not)
