    Default Moving 110V Transformer

The transformer on my machine is on the wrong side of the machine if I want to put in the automatic ball lifter. Is there any special wire I should use when extending the wire and moving the transformer to the other side?

    Thanks

Not really special, but certainly use at the very least an 18 awg wire. This is the smallest wire I would use and it's what standard extension cords 6 footers are made with.

I agree match the Gage there now, solder the connections, use heat shrink tubing for a nice look and a secure insulation....

    Default One Last Question

Does the voltage on the wire matter?

I bought 300 volt rated 20 AWG wire which is all anyone seems to carry, voltage-wise, in the electrical supply shops. However, both input (plug-end) and output (machine-end) wires on the transformer are 600 volt rated, with the input (plug-end) being 18 AWG and the output (machine-end) being 20 AWG.

The weird thing is that the 20AWG I bought is a lot thinner wire (including the plastic coating) than the 20AWG that is coming out of the transformer. If I attach the purchased 300V, 20AWG wire to the 600V, 20AWG wire on the transformer, should everything be okay?

If not, where can I get the 600V, 20AWG wire?

I am not an electrician and don't won't to blow either the machine or the transformer because I attached wire that was too weak to handle the voltage.

    Please help once more.

    Thanks

300V should be fine. You're only dealing with 120V on the primary and 24V on the secondary.

Your wire is probably thiner because the insulation is thiner (300V rating instead of 600V) The conductor is the same gauge and should be the same size.

20 awg is very small wire. I would not use 20, like I said 18 awg is the smallest I'd go with. Normal house wiring is 12awg.

you could just use the wire from a extension cord.
