Default pachinko reference materials; where to find flipper spring?

Pachinko games tech. info, and for sale

i found this when i was searching for a new flipper spring. it has 2 links at the bottom with maintenance manuals (the second is very detailed with good pictures, though the translation from japanese a bit rough)

this website also has schematics of wiring for the common nishijin models

    now, back to my question,

where can I find a suitable spring to replace the flipper spring? the one on my ginza is new and most likely a screen door spring, which is way too strong.

I can take the trouble to remove one off another machine, measure diameter, pitch and spring coefficient, but I thought someone might already know.

Really well stocked hardware stores should have various springs with the correct length,Dia and tension. Just bring one from a machine to match up.

I never checked n a Home depot so I dont know if they carry any springs that could be used.

If all else fails there is Grainger

I found a spring at Lowes that is the same length but a little larger in diameter, and is made from the same guage wire and has the same tension.

Ace Hardware has a spring that is the same length and diameter, but is made from a slightly stronger guage of wire, so the tension is tighter.

Home Depot in my area didn't have anything close.

thanks for the suggestions. another awesome catalog place is mcmaster-carr. you can order the spring in stainless or steel and in about a hundred different variations.

the spring that is on my ginza is a bit tight, but i'm accommodating it. I looped a twist tie to make about an inch gap between the nail and the spring, and now if I just barely push the flipper, no more than about 30 degrees, I can hit the playfield without going around a second time.

i'll check out ace or lowe's tomorrow, if it's still bugging me.

you know something, compirate was right again!!

I was sitting there whacking pachi's too hard thinking, I still have to buy a looser spring for this machine, when I thought "well, why not give it a stretch? it won't hurt anything, and maybe I could get it just right"

well, I yanked in three different places on the spring so there were little gaps now; hooked it back up and woooo whooo! it's perfect now.

i'm so into this making things out of trash crusade, that i'm looking at the garbage in totally different ways now... don't throw that away, I might make a weapon out of that, or something...

OK. that's it for today. off to bed.
