Default Error: HE! What's up? HELP, Please!

All of a sudden, I’m having what I think to be hopper “error” problems. On the Dragon Dice machine tonight I’m starting to get HE error messages. The hopper is full (or it can be empty, too). I still get the messages pretty frequently. A reset does no good. It just comes back with the HE message.

I tried removing the hopper and really cleaning it well, spinning the internal coin holders, etc. All seem good. Looked at the connector, cleaned it and all is well there.

Plugged it back in and it worked, but about 10 minutes of play later, HE error appears again and that soothing music plays thatÂ’s starting to be less and less soothing with this problem!

I have played this machine for a few days (its new to me since three days ago) and hadnÂ’t had this problem at all in the past.

The last time it occurred, I shook the hopper and rattled all the coins in it and did the reset -- nope. Did it again and reset – nope. Did it a third time and the error stopped. Am not hopeful it’s stopped for long, though.

Any help would sure be appreciated. Am hoping that the hopper isnÂ’t defective, but could be. Any ideas or thought on this sure would be great! :-?

When it goes into this error, is the hopper trying to spin and deliver some tokens?

No, the hopper will be doing nothing as I'm merrily playing along... and the machine just suddenly stops with the HE error. In fact, it's never stopped while attempting to deliver the coins, it's always been for no reason.

oops, that's not good. Unless it's a lose connection, you might need a new hopper board. If it was going into error while spinning, I would suggest some silicone spray as that fixed my Terminator hopper but if it's just going into error I think it can only be a bad connection or a bad board.

yep sounds like some sort of connection problem, or at worst a board problem! At least you found out now and not a long time down the road. Maybe try messing with the board, or even better yet, id unplug and plug in every connection you can see inside the machine.

I had it loaded with about 800 tokens, removed the hopper and really shook the California out of it.

Have run about 500 tokens through it since then and haven't had the problem re-occur, but my guess is it will happen again. Can hope there was some piece of junk in there or something that was shook loose, but doubt it. Every play of the joy stick am wondering if it wil quit now.

I will try unplugging and replugging everything around the various ciruit boards if it happens again. Sure can't hurt!

The more I think on this, maybe it was some crud inside the hopper mechanism causing the problem. The hopper was loose during shipping and got beat up, I had to file some edges down on it to get rid of flattened beat-up edges from knocking around during shipping. maybe a small piece of plastic went inside and caused this problem.

I'm hoping that's what it was and now it's gone. Guess one can hope.
