    another movie review

    the vampire's assistant

now thiis is more like what a vampire movie should be

it starts out with a traveling freak show, where the good vampires live.

one high school boy gets turned into a half vampire so he can assit the main vampire.

he meets a monkey girl at the traveling show and they are attracted to each other.

there is lots of action with the good vampires fighting the bad vampires

not a lot of blood, but plenty of action.

the monkey girl has a cute tail

I see a sequel movie in the future.

    I would rate it a 9

    my latest movie reviews

    Avatar

I've stated in the Avatar thread how much I did enjoy this movie

I give it a 9, not a 10, mainly because of ideas stolen from movies or stories in the past.

    The Lovely Bones

A 14 year old girl tells the story of her death during the movie, the movie switches back and forth from real life, to a sort of limbo, where she is stuck because she wants closure in her life the special effects here are excellent also.
I would rate it a 9 also and would see it again, now that I know what to look for early on in the movie.

    Sherlock Holmes

this movie blew me away, I love fantasy movies the setting is in early England with horses and buggies and all kinds of special effects. the movie is very well done and old england never looked better on screen. they could have done away with a couple of the slo-mo shots, but lots of action here.
a real man's film. I rate it a solid 10 and will get the BluRay when it comes out.

I am Surprised that you gave The lovely Bones a 9. I would give it more of a 5. If I say why i would get it a 5 I will give away too much of the movie. It did not live up to what I was expecting.

well I'm more of a special effects CG kind of guy, so I liked that part of the movie.

there were a few holes in the plot that I didn't care for though.

the killer did a few things in the movie that he could not possible have done by himself, but did.

I went to see It's Complicated a few nights ago while running away from my family I enjoyed it thoroughly, although that may have been due to the fact that I was out on my own, in peace.

Probably not the kind of movie to excite the membership here, but there was a scene where some middle-agers smoked 'special' cigarette that I got a real kick out of.

    yet 2 more movie reviews

Percy Jackson and the olmypians-the lightning thief

the movie was well done, the CG effects were top notch. it reminded my a lot of Xena and Hercules tv shows and other fantasy movies

lots af action with comedy thrown in I thought it was an excellent movie good for the whole family although the monsters may e too scary for the smaller children.

I would rate it an 8 and may buy the blue ray when it comes out

    Legion

this movie wasn't quite like what i expected, actually only 2 angels in the whole movie, one good who thought there was hope for the world, and, one following orders to destroy the world

    it basically turned into a zombielike movie right from the start, but some of these zombies were smarter and could change shapes. [think Zombieland movie}

most of the movie was spent fighting these creatures and the good angel telling the storyline along the way

CG special effects were good and actors did a good job. If you like this kind of movie go for it!!!

I think once was enough for me and wouldn't buy the blue ray when it comes out

    I rate it a solid 7

Talking Re: a few movie reviews

I took the family to see "How to Train your Dragon" this past weekend. After dishing out $42 for the tickets (Adult $11.00 and Children $10.00) and another $26 for popcorn and pop, I am delighted to say what a wonderfully entertaining movie and experience it was. We don't go the movies very often because both of my children are on the swim team which is 5 days a week practice with meets on the weekend. What little time we do have is spent on homework & study, videos from blockbuster, the occasional play-date, and of course pachis.

We watched the movie in 3D which was a great experience in itself. The movie had something for everyone; action, suspense, lots of humor and a tiny bit of romance. The kids will love the movie and you will enjoy it as well.

I would give it 10 Sampson Luckydog tail wags.

    2 more movie reviews

    Clash of the Titans

the movie was very well done with many special effects, it did slow down in a few places, but the action picked right back up.

I wish I had seen this movie before Avatar, I may have enjoyed it more.

lots of fantasy creatures, I liked the pegusus flying horses best of all.

I would watch it again, but don't think I would buy the blu ray of it.

    I rate it an 8 1/2

the next movie isn't to well known, but is excellent

    "the imaginarium or doctor paenassus"

with Johnny Deep and Heath Ledger starring in it

.The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus (2009)

the movie would be best watched after a few drinks or special "brownies"

the doctor has made a deal with the devil for eternal life then as he grows real old he makes another deal to be younger.

he travels around in an old wagon that converts into a theatre and puts on shows where people who enter a special mirror actually enter his mind.

the fantasy scenes are excellent and the movie is very well done, think something like "Alice" or Monty Python.

I enjoyed the movie and would watch it again

I rate it a solid 9 and may consider getting the Blu Ray

I went to see Date Night last night.

    Date Night (2010)

I was pleasantly surprised by this movie. I went in expecting it to be funny...but more than likely stupid. Sure, it had some cliche moments, but this movie was a good time... I definitely think it is worth seeing... It is rated PG13, but I'd say it is right on the edge of being R, as there were some pretty adult situations going on.

That's odd that a movie with some high profile actors, would not be in wide release
