Default Universal "Versus" token hopper problem

    Hello,
I'm new and I have a small problem with this machine I just picked up. When I plug in the token hopper and turn the machine on, the LEDs start flashing and it will not initialize. If I unplug the hopper the machine boots and runs normally, until it goes over the 50 token limit, then it goes into help mode because it can't spit out the tokens to get it under the 50 token limit. Has anyone had this problem and found a solution? Any help is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.

First off... welcome to the forum!

Are you getting any error codes on the front of the machine?

Can you turn the token rotary in the hopper?

have you tried manually turning the wheel in the hopper to see if you have a token jam???

you should be able to turn it either way easily.

    Default Error code

the led on the front right is lighting up HE, and I can turn the rotor freely. I checked the connections and found 2 terminals with broken solder joints so I resoldered them, but no luck.

    Default Tokens

I have tried both with and without tokens in the hopper, And I got it from a junker who picked it up on the side of the road. I have done a reset with the key, don't know what you mean by a major reset?

Are you sure you got them on the right places? Didn't cross them?
Were they still somewhat attached or completely loose?

    Default More

The terminals with the broken solder joints were on the pc board under the hopper, this is where the cable From the rear plug runs too, and from the pc board it goes out to the motor and the counter.

You might have a blown hopper card. For lack of a better description. There is a circuit board the wires feeding the hopper go to. I have known this board to go out before on other models, can't say I'm totally sure on this one. I don't believe it's the hopper motor since it spins freely enough and you are going into immediate HE (hopper error) when you plug it in.

    Default sounds like it

I think you may be right, I'm gonna take the board out and check it out resister by resister, and then check any ic chips.
    thanks for the help.

I believe I have the same model hopper, and there should be a switch on the right hand side of it that should be in the "down" position. This switch causes the hopper motor to turn on until this switch is turned off. It may be as easy as this.
