The piece of paper is suppose to be in there. It dampens the spring so it won't vibrate after every shot. It also makes it a little more rigid. Every machine from the 70's had pieces of paper in the spring. Some of the things they say could be interesting though.

Recently pulled out a piece of paper from a spring. It was an ad for some America car. Anyway, I don't like the spring vibration while shooting. Sounds cheap. A great dampener is weather stripping. I cut a piece the right length and then cut it in half lengthwise and stuck the two adhesive sides together or else it'll stick to the spring as you push it in. Makes no noise and feels completely solid and impossible to tell the shooter mech is spring operated.

These little pieces of paper were pushed into the playing ball feed slot, causing the machine to "not work" which in turn led to me getting a deal on my first machine.

It is not pachinko, but rather pinball. I found a rodent nest in my 1934 Stoner Super-8. I removed the nest quickly so my wife would not see so no pic. but I did notice after looking at other pics I took there there is mouse poop on the transformer. Does that count? ;-)

I finally found my picture on an old phone! It never transferred when I switched.
Ok so here's the story. Come home, see my large package sitting outside. Rushed in, opened it and threw packing peanuts like a kid on Christmas. I had bought an old vintage single shot.
I looked at the back to see what, if anything was wrong. Nothing was so I dropped in a couple balls to test the mechanics. All was well. Went to work, came home and decided to clean the machine. well I lift mine by the top of the frame, if the wood allows it!, and when I cracked it open...this sucker dropped in my face!! It was there...the whole time...in the spot where I put my hand to lift the machine! I could have touched it about 6 times! Never before had I screamed so loud XD Even with it dead I wanted to kill it with fire but I couldn't bring myself to damage a pachinko! After about 5 minutes I got the balls to carefully get the bugger out of there.

    Question Termites !!! ???

Big chunk of wood missing and no traces of it in the machine.
    Original staples were in place.

    Go figure.

Very odd... I mean we have machines that delaminate and chunks that fall out but that is huge and you say the mechanics were still stapled to it.

Can we revive this thread? My first machine was loaded with skittles. They melted and were covered in pet hair.

I am working on a current parts machine. So far, live bugs, especially silverfish, have shot out, it is filled with mud, spiders (dead and alive) and broken glass. So glad I had a tetanus shot!

I am am sure others have found gross things since the thread started!
