    Default Rubbing and Rubbing!

I've been rubbing and rubbing (on the machine!) forever now with Novus #3 and the scratches have faded a little but are probably highlighted even more now that I've smoothed out everything around them!

Is there some special cloth or tool I should be using?

It appears that chrome plating of plastic is possible. My quick search showed this process is called "vacuum metalizing". The few sites that I checked deal mostly with chroming of plastic parts for vehicles and toys.

Here is a sample site: http://mmmetalizing.com/services.html

The site says that they are not just limited to the automotive trade and will accept a wide range of items. The cost could be interesting to investigate. They quote the price of having a 1 foot diameter wheel cover as costing $15.00 to plate. What do you suppose a pachslo door might cost to plate, $50.00?

If you could find someone in your area that does this process, at least you could save on shipping. The only way that I see this as being worth the effort and cost is if you are talking about fixing a premium machine that you got a terrific deal on. It sure would be tough stripping a pachislo door to the bare frame!

    Does seem quite reasonable!

We can accommodate any sized object up to 60 inches.

Typical pricing for wheel center caps:

    1 to 3 inches = $ 9.50
    4 to 9 inches = $12.50
    10-12 inches = $15.00
Our wheel center cap service includes:

no charge for pickup and delivery (within 50 mile radius of Westminster, California, USA)
    no minimum quantities
no charge for masking of logos
no charge for extra sanding (caps only)

    Default "Selective Plating"

It looks like these guys only coat entire pieces with some masking involved. It doesen't look like they'd be able to coat "selectively," meaning filling in scratches or scuffs. It would work fine if your chrome piece were entirely chrome, but not well if there is a design or lettering on a portion of the chromed area.

    Just a newbie talking.

I've used the old "cover up" method over the years. I had a fancy sport car that I even used that method on and covered up a amall ding with a reflector that looked like a side reflector back in the 70s. Anyhow, I got my DD King in with a pretty good nick to the right bottom below the token insert slot (the machine was nearly perfect and like new other than that mark) and a stick-on Japanese pink bird that matched the case fixed that chip to make it look like new.

I've had many people play this machine since then and not a single one even noticed there was a nick and they all commented that it was just like a brand new machine.

We men... we just need to talk to our wives more....
They've been doing the "cover-up" thing for years... it's called make-up.
Have you ever seen them without their "stickers"? Ewwwww.

Man... I'm glad my wife doesn't read this forum. :-P
