    Default Star Trek

    Hi All,
I've been considering picking up a Star Trek Pachinko but the prices have put me off a bit. I love the theme, but at 500-600+ with shipping its tough to rationalize it especially with a new baby on the way next month. Being a bit of a newbie in the pachi world I was wondering...do you guys expect the prices on these things to come down? I have gone back and looked at discussions about the Star Wars and Indy machines when they first arrived and the prices seemed higher for them too. I am definately willing to wait but I'd hate to miss out on such a cool machine. What do you all think? Do you think that the stock will be there or is it a "strike while the irons hot" scenario?

    Thanks everybody.

PS: Any reviews out there on this machine? I've been looking and haven't seen much yet.

    Cheers,

    Bob

I haven't seen a popular machine yet where the prices didn't come down. A few years ago Popeye was the hot machine going for over $300. This year is kind of different that there isn't one really hot machine. Star Trek will probably come down but still hold a higher price like Star Wars since it will attract non-pachinko types. My guess is it will drop to $399 then $299 and stay there for some time.

The popularity makes the initial price high, then the rarity keeps it up, as available units get sold off.

Taiyo games aren't made in the same great quantities that Sankyo or Heiwa make, so it may stay a rarer machine. Time will tell. I bit the bullet and teleported one from Japan as soon as they became available a long time ago and have never regretted it.

The Taiyo Elec Laluz frames are becoming more readily available on YJA now, but I haven't seen any Star Treks lately.

Thanks for all of the info so far. I definitely want to pick one of these up but I think I'll wait a bit to see if the price comes down. I have noticed a bunch of Indy and Star Wars machines on ebay recently at pretty decent prices. They've also been popping up on Craigslist from time to time. Perhaps this is the "non-pachinko" types, that Luckymoey mentioned, selling their machines now that the novelty has worn off (I can't imagine). I may be setting myself up for disappointment, but seeing them has given me at least some faith that the Star Treks will be out there at a bit lower price when I'm ready buy. We'll see.

Just got the tracking number for my new Star Trek Slot-Pachinko's got some for $429 + s/h. While not inexpensive by any means, still a good price for this machine. I'm glad I didn't pull the trigger on those ones on eBay.

This completes the machines that were on my must have list as well as wall space in my game room. From now on, I'll have to sell one before getting another although I'm sure luckydog would disagree.

I should have my remaining 3 wall cabinets painted and mounted within the next couple weeks and then I'll post some pix of the completed game room and the new MAME machine.

Star Trek is a great machine! It's one of my favorites, and fun to have on even when I'm not playing it. It's a real colorful machine. The only one I have that beats it as far as the light show is Gokuu Midnight Eye.
