1965 footage of Pachinkos being played!

I just got in a dvd from www.thevideobeat.com :

Bonus: Musical excerpts from the film "Eleki No Wakadaisho" starring Yuzo Kayama. Kayama and Takeshi Terauchi perform together backed by the Launchers and they really blast the place to pieces!

Most of you young'uns have probably never heard of The Ventures but ...

The thing that is of interest here is that it has footage (1965 !) of The Ventures playing old vintage Pachinkos ! I had to laugh when I saw what they went thru to get balls back then versus the videos arby has put up here for modern machines. What they had to do was stand in line with their yen bills and hand it to an attendant that would pull a crank on a large ball counter. The balls were dispensed in their hands and then they carefully walked over to these vintage pachinkos and proceeded to flip as fast as they could :!:

The pachinko footage is only a little over a minute long. The entire dvd is excellent quality and the sound is fantastic. The only problem tho it is in Japanese language(no subtitles) except for a couple of songs that The Ventures actually sing.

thevideobeat.com claims this is in the public domain (so freely copyable :?: )...I am not sure about that but if anyone would like a copy - let me know and we will work something out.

Wow ! I just checked the price they are getting for this "public domain" dvd : 29.95 ! And on the Ventures site it is 45.00. Unbelievable.. :wink:

Ok finally I was able to find the footage of The Ventures playing pachinko in this Japanese movie! It says it was filmed in 1966...They are in Hiroshima and the Japanese seem to be quite amused....

Dennis I also recommend a download instead of tryin' to do a direct feed play from alex's site. I tried also to have his site stream it and it doesn't work for me either for some reason(maybe his bandwidth parameters don't allow streaming?) . But right mouse clicking on the link and then downloading it does work ok.

Since you're upping so many pachinko scenes in movies, try doing the one from Lost In Translation when BIll Murray and Scarlett Johannsen run through a parlor. That's probably one the more recent ones that I've seen.
