    Smile Karaoke Help??

As one of the Xmas gifts for my 11 year old daughter, I was thinking of buying a Karaoke Player

But I'm not sure which way to go with this, I've decided that I don't particularly want one of those DVD player types, have too many of those in the house as it is...

So I seem to have a choice between going for something portable like the Complete Kids Karaoke System (pic 1) or go for something like the Music Carrier, more expensive but lots of features (pic 2)

(Just using this site as an example as they have both types) Welcome to East Midlands Karaoke

Ideally I would prefer something inbetween the two, if something exists

I thought it might be a good idea to pick the brains of my fellow PachiTalkers

Perhaps some of you have these type of Karaoke Machines or can recommend one that isn't too complicated but is reasonable quality

    Your opinions are appreciated

My daughter, who just turned 12, has pic 1. we have enjoyed it at home and parties. I like that it isn't to small that it gets lost in the room. they seem to respect it more then a dvd size one

My kids love Karoake and they quickly outgrew the type as in pic 1. The screen was just too small, and if you are having a party type of thing going on, a big screen is definitely more desirable. I ended up getting a small DVD Karoake player that plugs into the television. They enjoyed that for a good while until they discovered the game SINGSTAR! for the Playstation. They go head to head singing the same song and get scored on whether they hit the notes or not. Now that is all they do when they want to sing... but there is a mic track on Rock Band that they also love. We have a karoake station on the television through the cable company and sometimes we just do that.

Since I know that you all love guitar hero and music is a big part of your life, I would recommend that you stay away from the 'kid' version and get something that will grow with your kids and be fun for the adults as well.

Angie I know you like old school things

some laser disk players had karaoke systems built in.

there are a lot of older laser karaoke disks still around

just plug a mike in the 1/4" jack and your good to go

#2 looks pretty cool to me, if I was into Karayoke I would get that one, but I don't know how much it costs?

    Smile Re: Karaoke Help??

well after spending many hours researching all the various Karaoke options, I finally made a decision!!

The problem with the portable systems was either go for the kids version, which I now think my daughter would outgrow quickly if not already, or go for the big portables which in all honesty are not going to be suitable in my home

So I decided to go for a DVD player type afterall, the one I chose has many features and is able to play all karaoke discs on the market, also has built in SD card reader, etc

I like that it has Key Control and Tempo Control too, as for the last couple of years my daughter has been singing & dancing in amateur theatre productions and this year is singing solo too, I feel that she will get more out of the extra features this machine has to offer

Oh yeah and it comes with 3,500 songs already!!

So if anyone is interested, this is the model I bought, but not yet tested it out as it is to be an Xmas Pressie

    Outstanding!

    Great choice, Mum!

She's going to love it, I'm sure.
Looking forward to a review, if you could... after Christmas, of course.
