I love my pachis, I would move before some stupid law people told me I couldnt have them in my house. What a mess anything they can create a big amount of drama on something you cant have or do. Im Gay I have been dealing with lawmakers saying what "They think is right" for us to do and what is ok. I say go pachis !!!!! Go smuggle them B@#$%ds into Jersey if you have to ! ya like what ya like right. Im not saying break any laws here but come on. A point has to be made some where along the lines.

New Jersey law makers meet California law makers. You all must have gone to the same uptight law school.

No, same casino lobbists and machine distributors. If they can't have in on it you can't have it. The government doesn't want it unless they get paid to bless and put tax stamps on it. It wasn't a big deal here in CA until 03' when they finally let the indians have slots in a casino (or racetrack) and created a gaming board that has nothing better to do.

I'm just surprised they haven't raided the cheese man with his disguised, ticket dispensing fruit games. The last time I was there the light stopped on a red one and I got 50 tickets. It was a ticket fever. That was enough for 5 super balls, that had to be worth more than a quarter.

The indians bought out all the Hard Rock casinos.

We may start getting some pressure here in Florida to outlaw pachislos one day.

There is a loop hole in the New Jersey law but you would have to fight this in court. The loop hole is "to receive cash or tokens to be exchanged for cash". You have to be able to prove that no cash or anything of value is being exchanged for the tokens. It is the same for playing card with chips, it is not illegal but it the blues are $5 & the reds are $10 then it's illegal.
But either way it really SUCKS!!! And if they go after you, no matter what you will have a big court battle on your hands.

    f. "Slot machine" means any mechanical, electrical or other device, contrivance or machine which, upon insertion of a coin, token or similar object therein, or upon payment of any consideration whatsoever, is available to play or operate, the play or operation of which, whether by reason of the skill of the operator or application of the element of chance, or both, may deliver or entitle the person playing or operating the machine to receive cash or tokens to be exchanged for cash, whether the payoff is made automatically from the machine or in any other manner whatsoever. A device so constructed, or readily adaptable or convertible to such use, is no less a slot machine because it is not in working order or because some mechanical act of manipulation or repair is required to accomplish its adaptation, conversion or workability.

In the strictest sense of that law, I could go to a soda machine, put in my "cash", operate the machine, receive my "token" (soda), and 'exchange' it for cash with someone else.

    Ban All Soda Machines!!!!!!

I am probably being paranoid but ....
if you live in a state where the games may be illegal I think you should remove the names from your signature. Maybe you should also leave the state blank.

Yes, you are right and it is all in how ( and if it is an election year) the DA wants to go after you. They have a similar law in TN. I was told by the Criminal Investigation Bureau that they did not even know what a Pachislo was. And that they would only came after you if the DA told them to. As long as you (privately) are not using quarters or cashing the token in or asking people to pay for tokens to play then they don't have a problem.
The problem is when you get some stupid idiot that gets the bright idea to charge people in the hopes of making some quick money.
THAT'S A PROBLEM! That's what probably happened in NJ. A lot of people here are all about the money and not too bright.

That was what I was told by our Prosecutor when he made his return visit. He said he was too busy prosecuting the pot heads and violent crimes to be worried about a machine that was used for personal home entertainment. As long as he doesn't get complaints he doesn't care, but if a new prosecutor ever comes into office to get their say so.

Barf.. not sunny AZ for me. It has changed a lot since the 70s and not for the better. I spent most of my life in Tucson and Phoenix.

Oh well, that is true for a lot of the country, but AZ and CA are two areas that are changing fast.

Nevada is getting pretty bad too, getting on the zero tolerance and automatic Felony bandwagon. Removal of personal rights in the name of homeland security. Building jails like there is no tomorrow etc.

I think it really sucks I can not easily get any of the new pachislo machines because I live in NJ. It has all but ruined my interest in the hobby. I still Enjoy and play the machines I have but knowing I can't order that Tomb Raider machine (as an example) really irks me.

(Ask Mark if you don't believe me.)
