    Default What's the difference

I am knew here and haven't had a pachinko machine in 30 years. Time to introduce my kids to one. The one I had when I was a kid would definitely come under the vintage catagory

I am looking at either the star wars or Top gun machines. Both are avaialble via or the web at merchants or Ebay. They both seem to be available ina red cased version or standard white cased version. Is there a difference? The response I received from one merchant would suggest that the red cased version was a cheaper modification? Not sure if this is trye or just because they sold the white version.

Any suggestions? I was hoping for a Faq on a first purchase of some of the variations avaialble and what to ask, but didn't see one.

    Thanks,
    Stuart

they were issued in white cases but other machines were issued in a variety of colors the cells themselves have been put into the incorrect cases. some people like the red cased starwars because it it reminds them of the imperial guards. there should be no premium for the red cased versions, in my opinion they should be less.
in the parlor they sometimes would just swap out the cells rather than go through the whole process of removing and reinstalling all the ball handling equipment.
by the way both are great choices for a first machine! and

It was issued in the white frame, but any color will work fine, they're all the same (Sankyo Lumina). To be honest, it shouldn't cost any more for one frame over the other. That frame actually comes in 6 colors - white, red, green, yellow, blue and purple.

I have both the Star Wars and the Topgun Pachinkos and they are both fantastic!! (both white frames too)

It would be very hard to choose between them but if pushed i would say Star Wars but that is my own personal opinion, I happen to like R2D2

I think it will be a better theme for the whole family. If I knew it would be a hit I might have gotten both There is a Star wars locally listed on Craigs list for 250.

250 for a Star wars is an excellent price. That's about what I paid several years ago for mine. The price has seemed to get higher since.
