Default Won't hold balls in tray

My machine won't hold the balls in the upper tray. They go straight through and back out. The game works fine as far as shooting and the lights and rollers and things, but it won't hold the balls, so no winners. It is a newer machine. Any help would be appreciated.

please post a pic of your machine it will help give you the assistance you need

sounds like the ball dump lever is engaged. with a pic of the machine someone will be able to tell you exactly what you need to change..

If the balls are falling into the front shooter tray, it's likely the machine is just 'catching up' on previous payouts (a recent fever). If that's the case, just get a cup, and refill the machine several times. It can be as high as a few thousand balls. The machine keeps the total in memory if it runs out during a fever.

On the other hand, if the balls fall out of the back, your problem is elsewhere.

They are going straight through the back. I put them in the upper tray and they go straight through. I will get a picture. I am at work right now. I don't know if this will help, but it is yellow and has a western theme. There is usually a buzzard flying in the video window until you activate it.

    You have the Sankyo "Wanted"

I used to have that one and it also had the same problem. I never figured it out and eventually sold it. Maybe you bought it?

Could be Heiwa Western Hero, hope yours plays better than mine!

Sounds like the upper tray emptying clip is open.

follow the ball ramp out of the tray, before it reaches the payout motor you'll find a lever that blocks the ball dump channel and forces the balls towards the payout motor. this needs to be reengaged as it was released buy the seller to empty all the balls out of the machine.

I agree with the others, it sounds like the ball dump lever.

Sorry the pictures are dark and that it's a mess. We are moving into a new house. We have been living with relatives for four weeks now while I am remodeling. good news is that this room will be my game room. I think you can actually see part of the remodel in one picture. Anyway here are two pictures of the machine. If you can't read it, it says "Wanted" in the middle. Like I said at first, the game plays fine. It just won't hold the balls in the top tray. My daughter has been playing while I am working. Thanks.

As with most machines, there is a "win" light and a "Hopper empty" light. the Hopper empty light is usually located on the top right of the Frame. Your frame may be different...and it's hard to tell with the pictures, but it lloks like you do have an orange colored light at the top right of the cell near the edge...might be the hopper empty light. As for the locking lever that helps to empty a hopper, look at the back of the machine and on the right hand side, you will see the payout motor about halfway down. follow straight up from there and look for either a white plastic dial or a sliding tab. If you can post a picture of the back of the machine on the right hand side, we may be able to point it out for you.

    Good Luck

I agree...it's probably just the hopper dump lever.

I had the same machine. The hopper lever is a metal tab on that one, located on the right side a few inches down from the top. Unfortunately, it was not the problem on my machine.

Is there an error code showing? That machine does have an error code LED.

There is an LED number 7 on the back. I will check that motor thing later tonight. We have a dinner tonight because it's National Adoption Day and we have two adopted kids!

Thumbs up Re: Won't hold balls in tray

Here are the error codes for that machine... error%20code.png

Unfortunately, "Balls Cut Off" sounds pretty serious. It usually happens after the honeymoon.

Maybe someone can help you (a surgeon?).

I better remove myself from this thread before Sid bans me ...

On my lumina frame, I had to take out the payout unit and remove a ball that was stuck in it. It worked great afterwards. Not sure about your frame, but would imagine it would be similiar. Check out the Victory and Lumina translated manuals on the site and see if either one can help you trouble shoot the problem.
