Trying to improve the ball lifter. I've taken the toothed gear off and replaced it with the toothed wheel. Around this I cut a length of drivebelt. Attached it around the wheel and held in place witha jubilee clip. Next stage, Apply the blowtorch to the wheel, till the rubber belt melts and fuses around the wheel teeth. Then leave to cool.

Then using Monkeyboy's video off youtube, Cut a groove in a piece of wood and prepare a cover plate for the edge.

My idea is to have an 6-8" cavitiy between my current cabient and the next cabinet, Put the ball lifter, tubing, hopper, power distribution & Card readers for dongles in this cavitiy.
The motor can be mounted vertical as well as horizontal. But may have to remake the hopper to suit. I'm replacing the copper tube with plastic, again to keep noise down.

Cool idea. Didn't think about putting the drive on its side.
My problem is that the motor is too fast, Did try and put a varible resister in to adjust speed, but the current was to high and burnt it out.

Started to prepare the moulding for ball track. Carved the shape into a block of wood. Cut it in to three, Screwed back together and poured plaster in to it to form a negative mould. Need to make the reverse mould ready for resin casting.

at thre moment my problem is...
I have this very well working lane to the motor is working fine

my first idea was to unse 2 metal plates to detect the lifter
    when are enogh balls
    power on

the problem is when i colelct 20 balls or so it is possible that they stuck and no ball is running in the lane?

so i think i have to power on the lifter always before i start to play?

is it possible to connect it to the ballshooter?
so that the lifter only works when someone is playing?

I used a set of infra red light beams fitted in the ball lift hopper to trigger the motor. When the hopper is full, It breaks the light beam. Causing the motor to start. When the beam is clear, The relay has an adjustable delay before it switches the motor off again.

The photocells I used were an old stock item I got from the stores at work. The current version is this one

    OS-12C : ACTIVE INFRARED SENSOR | OPTEX

May have to search online for it or find something like it.

The special timer relay is a Omron H3RN-1

Set with all the dipswitches down. So gives a delay before switching after power has been restored.

    See my thread here

    Hopping Mad Weekend

I send the balls to the top tank in the cabinet, Then the balls will get split to two machines. So overflow is not a problem

Heh, even i'm new user here, but i have project to build a ball lifter for my friend pachinko. I have examined different lifters techniques:
    Two lifts: http://mrdummy.net/zooi/pachinko_lift.pdf
Strange lift, but nice: http://mrdummy.net/pachinko_lift_v3.pdf, see page 2 how it work
The final version which i shall build: http://mrdummy.net/pachinko_lift_v4.pdf
That is 82 cm long worm lift. Material costs ~75 Euro in Netherlands from Gamma + Conrad parts.

All lifts works with one ball. Your marble ball pusher works not with one ball, that is weakness.

Soon more photos about work in progress.

As anyone who has tried to make one of these, One of the main important things is getting the gaps between the ball waiting to be lifted and the motor device. Just 1mm out and the result is constant jams. as the ball being lifted gets stuck or the next ball waiting gets in the way and fouls it up.
If I get time, I'm going to have another try at mine. PC problems aside,

Remember that a modern pachi shoots a ball every second and a vintage can be rated at 100 balls a minute.

I'm building V4 pdf now. That is with long worm lift. Driven by motor with 1:50 gearing, that makes 104 rotations per minute, which means also 104 balls per minute.
But you can use both sides of worm lift, that makes it easy 208 balls per minute.

The motor is controlled by time switch circuit with relay. The metal lips are placed below lift to sense the balls, but a optical sensor is also good.
If you click on the site (Conrad links are in pdf) which product is there, you can read specs. Conrad is one big Electronic store in Europe.
The motor is pretty silent and not very noisy. Works on 12V, consumes not more than 300 mA. A small transformer is enough for power. The gearbox is metal and it runs pretty strong with max 9 kg / cm
