Alright Compirate, thanks alot for the info. I appreciate that. I'm sure ill have another question before the day is over. I'm glad I got the Nishijin...that seems to be popular so therefore more people to steal information from

Nice machine! I've got a B model and a Sankyo. I love the vintage machines. You are gonna love it and it will be well worth the work you put into it.
    Congrats

Ok I'm about ready to start putting everything back together. What 's this??? (clear plastic piece w/pivot). I remember seeing it swinging when i took a ball chute off. I can't find any close up pictures to see where it needs to be positioned before I start putting everything back together.

As far as I know, it goes to the left of the pin on the shooter lever. It actuates the mechanism that puts one ball in front of the shooter at a time.

Ok thanks again Compirate, I just wanted to make sure it didnt attach to any parts that I took off. Just finished cleaning and putting it all back together. Had to do a little tweaking here and there to get stuff to move correctly, but it is in working order. Now Im gonna hook up the lights. My last machine didn't have any so i had to go custom lighting, but all the work had beed done for me on this one. Just a couple of repairs and a power source and I'm done...Unless a bulb is burnt

Ok after about 8 hrs of cleaning, tweaking the rods and see saws, sanding electrical contacts, and a few more adjustments, mechanical is A+. Rewired electrical and made a battery cradle out of a conduit strap and a brass nail. Hooked up a 9v temporarily with hot glue to test lighting. Jackpot and "low on balls" lights worked to the best of my expectations. I played for about an hour. Also, as with my last project, I used small screws to attach all removed parts instead of stapes or tacks...both suck!!!

I forgot...thanks again everybody for the info because it sure makes things easier. I did learn alot on my own, but when I got stumped, there was always someone to help me out. What a cool site to come to.

Next step...polish brass nails and shine playfield. Wow i don't have to worry about graphics or stripping paint or pulling nails or sanding...thats strange.

Well this machine rocks!! I took a break from restoration because thats all ive been doing for about a month. I played the heck out of this new one to see what it was made of and didn't have a single problem. Granted, its no where near as pretty as my dragon machine, but plays so much better because of the multi shoot option. QUESTION: another reason i like this machine is that balls rarely drop out the back ...What condition triggers a ball to drop into the "tupperware"? Nishijin Type A

When the lower reward hopper in the back is full.
The payout trigger ball drops out the back though, right?

Not that ive noticed. The ball that makes the jackpot comes out in the lower tray in the front.

I can run about 100 balls through this machine and when done only 3 or 4 came out the back? The part youre pointing to i haven't studied because that was the only part of my machine that seemed to be clean so i didn't remove the plastic. Staples suck to remove.

I see the ramp in the back that reroutes the trigger ball to the front. This is a very rare thing on vintages. I've only seen a few with this. Nice way to tell how many payouts you've gotten.

Don't have enough balls to fill it completely?

I have about 300 balls in it . I'll cash out about 100 and make jackpots, miss miss etc, until all 100 balls are spent. When i look in the back there might be 4 balls, which is very cool, but under what condition do they shoot out the back. Remember compirate, im very creative, but still a newbie.

That lower tray doesn't fill up with shot balls and then overflow where I indicated?

I've never filled it up that high. I appreciate your patience, but i think i need to go play it some more and do some more observations because im beginning to feel stupid.

No problem, that's the fun of these things, to see how they work and how well engineered they are. To me, that's part of the attraction, all the time/effort/money that goes in to these wonderful machines that really do nothing!

Ok I had a problem seeing what you were pointing to in the drawing, but now i see it ...a hole about the size of 1 ball and if the tray begins to overflow, it will send to the bottom "tupperware" to prevent balls from jaming or going all over the floor? And yes, I think the back of the machine is just as fun as the front.

Cool, made it into a newspaper holder so you can read in bed (laying on your left side)?

Today was a busy day, but still more work ahead. I added 1 coat of polystain mix, pretty close to original. While it was drying I polished all the pins and began cleaning playfield laminate. Water stains became more apparent, but really blend in with the background.
