The first two look like a typical American casino...not at all like how I picture the typical pachinko parlor. Whenever I've seen them in movies or TV they look rather stark, with little or no decoration with boring fluorescent lights.

Yes, I always imagine them to be little back street run down places...

But this report is showing how Pachi Parlours are having to move with the times to carry on attracting Players etc

I'm sure there will still be those little back street places too

What I did find interesting was the mention of how noisy Pachinko is and how they think manufacturers will need to address this in the future, should be interesting to find out??

As long as they don't get rid of the hallowed sphericals altogether and go Virtual or something!!

Casinos bring in enormous amounts of profit. I can't imagine that the Japanese parlors are any different. You walk around many American casino and you'll see a disproportionate number of Asians gambling (as opposed to other ethnic groups). Many casinos specifically target Asians in their advertising. (Photo is a CA billboard)

Also, it seems that the 'latest and greatest' casinos are the most profitable. I think the Japanese parlors are realizing the success of the giant American casinos and following suit.

Pachinkos with audio jacks...bring your own headphones! That wouldn't be so bad. But ball-less??? NOOOOOOO!

Those parlours look a bit classy haha. I know every time ive been into one you get that nice loud echoing sound of metal balls clanking about. You instantly get overcome with second hand smoke, and not to forget that smell of defeat as I drop 10k(Yen) without batting an eyelid.

The nicest one I went in was in Shinjuku near the Kabukicho district, and even that was pretty damn bare.
