2 BABEL questions

Hello,

We are new to the forums (and Pachislo) here and after an exhausting search decided we might want to go ahead and ask our questions

1) We have a BABEL and no manual (we only have an "Eleco" manual and the BABEL is different from our ELECO manual) so we are lost -- our machine will not play unless the max (3) tokens are inserted. Is this normal for this machine or is there a way to set it to play at 1 and 2 tokens also?

2) We know that SW1 is for setting the odds/payout but there is a SW2 just above that with 2 dual position slide switches. Currently both switches are to the left. And then on the board next to the reels just above where the SUPER LOUD speaker wire connects there is another switch (cannot see the SW# but it appears to be a three position slider. Currently this switch is in the middle position. We don't need to know what the switches are for or do (would be neat though) but does anyone know if they are in the correct position?

Without a manual we don't want to just go moving switches around. Might not generate a positive experience LOL.

Any advise or direction to the answer is greatly appreciated.

Hi John! Welcome to PachiTalk.

We have a very nice research center that will provide a ton of info for you. I did not find a Babel manual, but there is a PDF on generic operation of Pachislos that contains a good deal of information.

The only catch... PachiTalk is a very interactive community and it is preferred that newcomers make a few posts to gain entry to the research center. Don't worry, it's just a few.

I can tell you that most machines are Max Bet now. I have an Olympia TWIST that can be played one coin at a time, but my others are just as you described.

That's kind of what we were thinking also, we figured if there was a setting it would be nice to know it - as we won't do any mods to our babies but we play max anyways.

As Dattia has said, we do have a Research Centre that will open up to you after a few more posts, There you will find lots of Info including some very useful FAQs for those new to pachislo,

Unfortunately I am not familiar with the Babel Pachislo, however one of those 3 position switches will be for the Volume setting, I will warn you now that most pachislos have LOUD, LOUDER & EXTREMELY LOUD as standard

It is possible to bring the volume down to an acceptable level by fitting volume controls yourself, there are many Threads on the different ways to go about this...

Hopefully someone that owns a Babel will chime in with some more info for you

The 3 position switch is for volume. Put in coins and listen for the volume on each setting. I did install volume controls. Vince Mattione has some easy to install volume controls. bizmattione@hotmail.com. I sold my Babel, but it is a good machine. Keep the other switches to the left. Be patient and the machine will do some interesting things for you. Set the odds to 3 for about 100 coins and then change it to 6. Do you know how to do that ?

Thank you everyone for the info. The switch info is great. The two switches are to the left so we are good there. And we played with the "volume" one just now and as stated the settings are LOUD - LOUDER - and LOUDEST but I think you need a decible reader to tell the difference LOL.

We will do the set the odds to 3 and then go to 6. Yes we know how to do that and to do a master reset. Oh and put the coins in and push all the buttons too... But that is it on our knowledge -- LOL

We love the machine already and we are trying to find info on our other one two. We are enjoying getting to know the pachislo world and are becoming addicts,,, I think we have had four hours sleep in the last three days LOL...

Again we thank everyone for the info. We can't wait to access the research section and we look forward to getting to know everyone.

I wasn't being sarcastic with the re-setting the odds question. Many newbies just are not aware of the settings and functions of various things on the machines. When I was new to the hobby and the forum 5 years ago, I really did not know anything except maybe how to put in the tokens, but then a member told me what speed loading was and taught me how to save time when putting in tokens. We are all friends here and we all try and help each other. The e-mail address I gave you should solve your volume control issue. Just a heads up: If you fall in line with most newcomers, the next question will be about changing the tokens to quarters, then questions will come about adding arms and autostops. Then the questions will be about where do I buy additional machines from reputable dealers ? The machines do tend to multiply. I started with one Double Impact and now have 23 Pachislos and 14 Pachinkos. We all do this for fun and for helping all members. Don't be afraid to ask questions about anything here. We will find the answer for you. Remember... we are all friends here.

I did not take anything you said as sarcasm,, NOT AT ALL!! you were very helpful. I really only know how to put in tokens and push stop buttons and do the odds credit thingy... Which we find funny -- we own these two machines and need a casino floor rep to run them for us LOL.

As for mods, we have no interest in switching to anything other than tokens. It's the un-changed state of the machine that appeals to us...The only mod we are even thinking about is one that will help with the volume and even then we just are not sure yet... It's kind of funny hearing the windows rattle when the machine goes crazy LOL

I hope our two machines don't multiply like rabbits though, we may run out of room quickly LOL
