Default Hello. New member with error code question.

Hi. I was referred to this group when I was asking questions about a pachinko machine my father bought untested at an auction house. ItÂ’s a Haruhon Ghost Dancers. When powered on it gets an error message on the LED screen. I have a picture below. We presume it has something to do with the pulse motor since it has a picture of the little hook attached to the motor. WeÂ’ve removed the motor and receive the same error when powering up the machine without the motor connected. We thought this might be letting us know weÂ’re on the right track. You can see the motor in the lower left hand corner of the back picture. I havenÂ’t been able to find a replacement motor in an attempt to verify if this is the problem. Anybody have any ideas?

OK, let's deal with the obvious first.
Unplug the unit and do the following:

    1. Reattach any motors or parts you have removed.

    2. Plug in the unit and add balls to the shooter tray on the front and top ball hopper in the back.

    3. Add enough balls to the rear hopper that they cover the bottom of the hopper. Step 2 and 3 are necessary before the game will allow you to shoot a ball.

    4. Did the error message go out or change to something else?

    5. Turn the ball launcher handle to the right. Does it make a "thunking" noise? Are balls coming out?--If thunking but no balls, then the ball feeder may be jammed or the top hopper empty sensor may be loose or need reseating . Look for a microswitch beneath the top hopper or in the ball track path under the top hopper. Check it to make sure it is not malfunctioning.

    6. If none of this works then get back with us.

Thanks guys. We'll give the obvious answers a go and get back with you. I'm pretty sure we had it full when we first tested it, but it's been so long ago that I could be mistaken. Thanks again for your help.

You might want to refresh your memory with a quick review of the pachinko FAQ in the tips section--the first forum you see at the top when you enter pachitalk.com.

Refresh? I'll be honest and tell you I never read it. Of course, you probably already knew that and was just being kind with your words. Thanks for pointing it out. I'll dig through that and see what there is.

Sorry it's taken so long to get back. Sometimes I don't get out to my father's house very often. We did everything you suggested after ripping the thing apart and putting it back together. Now the error code happens, sometimes, but the pulse motor still doesn't seem to be working.

What I mean by sometimes is that when it's powered up, it seems to be fine, but then the error and beeping will come up... then after a few seconds it will continue where it left off, then again, it will display the error and beep. It's inconsistent now. At least it's working more than before, but still no "thunking".

Just to make sure I understand, you are saying the game will not launch a ball into the play field. Correct? When you rotate the ball launch knob to the right, nothing happens, no sounds of a motor turning, nothing. Correct?

Also verify that the balls fill all of the ball tracks from the top hopper down towards the bottom where the balls line up for payout.

If the ball launch motor is not functioning, then it is time to start talking to the guys in Arbycoffee's post.

Correct on both counts. I'll see if I can find a replacement pulse motor at the links Arbycoffee listed. Thanks for the help guys. I'll let you know if I ever get it working.

Could this be something as simple as a missing dongle? It sounds exactly like it to me.

I'm not sure what a dongle is. I'm presuming it's something that connects to the back? My father received no documentation with this machine, so we're kind of flying blind. He does have an older pachinko machine that is more mechanical based with no electronics, so this is a whole new beast. I could have him take pictures of whatever you're wanting to check to make the explanation easier.

Yes, this machine has both the quick disconnects and a DB-25 connector. If I'm reading this thread correctly, I either need the dongle or need to bridge something for the game to even work. Basically, we haven't even started a game yet, so this would keep the pulse motor from working. I guess what we've been seeing this whole time would be the attract mode? I'll have my father take a picture of the area with the DB-25 connector and see what we got.

The dongle fits on the DB-25 connector.

It's amazing how many problems are solved by just plugging the dongle in ...that is if they supplied you one.

We definitely don't have one of those.

I take it these dongles are proprietary devices with the machine and aren't available for purchase anywhere?

The general belief is it's where the card readers were attached and the dongle tricks the machine into thinking the card reader is attached.

Certainly not all pachinko's need them as two of mine don't have them. The units I received from TexasAuction didn't come with or need the dongles, the unit I received from Slotusa did and does.

I think it is only on the CR model of the machine :-)
