Default Indy gone cyclic - with a twist

First I like to say, don't even think about doing this mod unless you absolutely know what you are doing. With that said, I went ahead and did it anyway.
The victim is an Indiana Jones from Sankyo in a Lumina frame. This mod will work with any pachinko in the Lumina frame. What I wanted was a cyclic machine with the Gaku PachiCounter attached. I wanted an accurate count of balls shot and won, and I wanted it in a neat, clean package.
A few months ago I was at Gaku's shop picking up a Death Valley pachislo. I also picked up a Gaku Game System Spiderman pachinko. The cabinets and workmanship are beyond compare with Gaku's Game system. In the back, Gaku was working on an Indy in the game system style, white frame and cabinet, absolutely beautiful. I was hooked. I love my Spiderman and how it plays but I wanted to make Indy like I did with Freddy vs Jason. Gaku built my Indy as I wanted it, Pachicounter installed, volume controls, power switch up front, everything like his game systems except for being cyclic.
With the Freddy vs Jason, to get the ball count accurate I did a mod on the payout motor assembly. I would have to do the same thing to the sankyo assembly and here lays the problem.
Payout Assemblies on modern pachinkos use a check and balance system. When a ball falls through a payout pocket, the game computer sends a signal to the payout motor and tells it to dispense the proper amount of balls to payout. The stepping motor spins to payout the balls but there is also a check. The balls must pass through some type of sensor to make sure the proper amount was paid. If not, the stepping motor spins again until the count is correct. On the Sankyo, the checking sensor is the electromagnetic type. As the ball passes through the coil on the sensor a pulse is generated and signals the game computer that a ball was paid out. So, how do you trick the assembly into thinking it has paid out a ball when you are not passing any balls through the system. My solution was to replace the electromagnetic sensor with a microswitch wired normally closed. I also had to cut half moon notches on a wheel in the assembly to activate the microswitch. In the assembly the stepping motor turns a gear with 6 paddles on it that pass through an optical sensor. I had to mount the payout sensor for Gaku's Pachicounter to also see these paddles.
With everything wired up it was time for a test. Dropped a ball down the start pocket, Pachicounter reads 3 balls. Drop a ball down a 10 ball pocket...counter reads 10 balls. everything working as it should.
I've included some photos so you get some idea of what I'm blabbing about. Making the Indy full cyclic was pretty simple and is explained elsewhere in the forum.
I would also like to thank all those who have gone before and helped with this project even thogh they didn't know it. So Thanks Arby, Compirate, Gaku, and so many others out there

Technically, if I understand it correctly, You can play that machine endlessly with just one ball. The Battle counter keeps the score. Correct?

it's a long way between shot with 1 ball, but your right. 25-30 balls makes it more realistic

I may not understand all the technical details but it looks like you had to be a bit daring with this one

So glad it worked out perfectly and what a super post for future reference

Yes that's correct, the counter keeps the score, the balls return to the shooter tray. The counter keeps track of the time played, balls shot, balls won and lost. It really is a neat counter Gaku makes.

A couple more photos to help explain things. Also, you will need to fool the 2 switches in the ball track above the payout assembly. I just stuffed some plastic wrap in them. If you look closely at the black gear teeth you will see that at each paddle there is a short tooth. make sure you line it up with the corresponding tooth on the white gear so the timing is right.

This mod is not too hard, it just take time and patients adjusting the sensor and micro-switch positions.

Don't tempt me Arby, my father is from Madrid, Iowa and I have relatives buried there. I always wanted to go there so when I do, I will be stopping by. I don't like painting trim though.
