Smile Nishijin Castle ('70) pics and lights

Here's some recent photos of the machine that got me hooked on Pachinko. I purchased this machine at a garage sale for $15 and after spending about 3 hours cleaning and adjusting I had it working well.

From what I can determine, this is a Nishijin Castle model. The expiration tag has 48 12 and from what I've gathered on the web this places the production of this model during December of 1970.

If anyone has any knowledge of the 'story' or meaning of the symbols on this machine I would appreciate your passing that information along. I've seen a few post here of the same machine so I'm going to assume this isn't a rare machine.

I did get the lights to work by using 9v lights from radio shack that screwed into the existing sockets and replaced the missing 'hopper empty' light with a socket and light from Radio Shack. I use a 9.5v power supply that I had stuffed in a drawer with the others I've refused to throw away in the past. I considered the 'battery powered' option but would rather plug it in than mess with battery replacement.

I put my machine in a full standing cabinet that I elobroate on in the cabinet forum.

Thanks to all those that make these forums possible and I look forward to developing this obsession I hear so much about!

Welcome - glad to see you've posted some pics. However, I don't think this is a 'castle' machine - as there is no castle! Regardless, it's a good looking pachinko - and you got it for a GREAT price!!

Thanks for the insight. I got my 'castle' reference from another posting here that appeared to be the same machine.

Hopefully someone can help me assertain what type/name this machine has.
