But I haven't done it yet because you wanna make sure all targets are possible, tweaking nails here and there. Basically everything works good with no problems for days before you do this because it would be a pain to keep opening it up to unjam balls, etc.
Good points. I'm leaning towards attaching a pair of fore and aft feet to the base of the frame, and just sitting the unit on an apporiate table next to the olde pachislo. That way, I can babysit the machine's innards; I'm sure it'll need some regular attention before I think about even hanging it.

But there's still more to do while the game's on my workbench.

    Thanks again for the help!

Yeah - in our house that's a necessity.I mean - because of the drywall. Oh - nevermind.

But seriously, that's a nice collection of games, and nicely displayed.

I have designed and built a "Table Cabinet" a while back and a free standing cabinet with a cell storage drawer a year ago the updates with this site took my pictures off . I might just work up some plans for my cabinet design and post them on here .

cool sunking, im in a bit of a different situation as you because my machine has no hinged frame so im gonna have to hinge it to the new frame i build. so since i have to drill into one side of my machine, i think, since the wood is very old, i'll use bolts to attach the hinges instead of screws

spootz, im doing the same thing right now i have feet, and i just had to take the jackpot chute back off to get to a pocket where the balls kept chilling out. it seems like in the history of my machine it has been tinkered with before because i can see lines where something used to be, but was repositioned later. I've got it all under control, but i wish the machine came with pachinkofax.com

Today, after I did my American duty, i hauled ass to lowes to get some supplies for my next project. I won't call this a cabinet because i wont be going into too much cosmetics. It will be my "wall mount adapter for frameless pachinkos." Just got started, stained 2x4's measured to butt up against the machine and then countersunk 1/4" lag bolts thru the only studs i could find on this wall. Next ill reinforce more with anchors and "L" brackets. I keep y'all posted.

I must mention this is a revision of sunking's cabinets, but my machine will mount differently.

Your cabinet is transitional between the '50s cabinets with no hinges and the '60s cabinets with hinges for both the cabinet and the glass door. With early pachinkos, the front frame is set into a groove at the bottom of the supporting cabinet and tilts forward. The bolts and wingnuts hold it in place against the frame at the top. Once you loosen the wingnuts you can completely detach the front of the machine from the cabinet. Early pachinkos only have one pane of glass which slides out of an opening at the top of the grooved wood frame (because of this they are pretty difficult to work on for adjusting nails and cleaning while mounted upright).

    Heavy,

I noticed that you pluralized the word "Pachinko" when you were talking about your frame. Are you planning further restoration projects on new machines? I think we'd all like to see that.
I'm not addicted to Pachinkos. I can quit at any time. Did I tell you about the three machines that I have on the way?

What I meant is the design will work for frameless pachinkos not just this one. But if a good price comes around I'll get another. It really needs to be local though. Shipping avg is about $55.

When I get done with all the rest of the tasks - cleaning, refinishing, testing, etc - I think I'll just go with the wooden feet concept. I don't see a need - or really have the room - to do anything more involved. There are several other machines in the den, and there's but one paltry space left for this latest acquisition.

We have an old East Indian table that might be a suitable support, so I'll see how that goes. If it sucks (or I get static from the 'peanut gallery') I'll think of something else.

Anyway, thanks for all the ideas so far. You're WAY ahead of my learning curve, that's for sure.

Well thanks for the compliment Shpootz. The main reason I have for hanging the machine is that now i don't need a table to set it on thus adding clutter to my 2 bedroom house. Here's a pic so far ...next ill be adding a lock that I hope will look original, as this machine has no lock and i don't want any access to the balls except by me.

That looks SO fine! I'd really like to do that in my den. But if I even mention the idea of taking a sharp object to the wall, I might find a similar implement where I sit.

By the way, has anyone ever heard of the company who made this? King Go Shinko. Sounds rare since im becoming more familiar with pachinko.

That's the only machine I've seen by that manufacturer. They either quit the pachinko business early on, were bought by another company, or changed their name.
