Default first post - generic question, etc, etc

For starters, hey folks.. .this is my first post here.

When I was a kid (errr 25 years ago or somesuch) my great-aunt had a pachinko machine and I loved it. I recently helped a friend of mine carry 2 vintage machines to his truck from a swap-meet, and this week, the wife brought home a modern machine (Happy Hospital).

I got the modern machine mostly working (it was very very dirty) the ball counter(?) doesn't work, but that doesn't seem to affect the unit any.

I also will be looking for a couple vintage machines in the area for the gameroom, but my question is following:

Even though she brought it home, she's not too exited about the 5 year old playing Happy Hospital (what with the butt kissing, and boob squeezing) and wants to pick up another machine.

She's looking at Super Sea Story, and my main question is... is it fun? I know some of them end up a lot more fun than others, and I'm just looking at opinions on it (or recommendations on some modern games).

    thanks in advance folks.

    Welcome to PachiTalk!!

I can't comment on SSS (I don't have that one)
I would say some other good modern machines are, Indiana Jones, Star Wars, Or Top Gun.

    Hello and welcome to PachiTalk!

I would have to agree with LD on the Super Sea Story. That is also one that is on my want list. Looks to be very fun, and has a great soundtrack. Looney Tunes would be a great machine for a family with young kids. I do have that one, and I really like it a lot.

I think Looney Tunes is still available from Rita (a member here) at bluehotaru.com, or Dave at PachinkoPagoda (ebay name). The also have many other machines available, and I done business with both of them, and know they will treat you right.

    Welcome to PachiTalk Fortworthbret!!

Is your little one a boy or a girl?? or do they have any special interests??

As it may have a bearing on which theme you go for...

My little boy is almost 4 years old and loves the Star Wars Pachinko,
    but my Daughter prefers Garfield

The Super Sea Story ones always look cute and child friendly, although I have never played one,
I would like to add one to my collection some day too

    Angie ...
Pachinkos, Pachislos, Coffee, Papercraft Ninja, Pinball

I ran away with the Steampunk Circus!
I was hiding in a room in my mind...
You crush the lily in my soul...

I'm not sure what you mean by ball counter, but if you mean a small display along with 2 buttons on a front tray then that is a credit display for in parlor use..it tells you how many credits you have, that being how many balls you've bought through a card reader that sits next to the machines...The only way for that to work at home is to use one of daverob's dongles, he's a member here and developed this great accessory...while not needed for play, it sure is great..allowing you to get more balls to play with at the push of a button!!

But if thats not what you meant, please ignore!!

All CR (Card Reader) machines will have the display and buttons!!

    oh, and WELCOME!!

Welcome! I own a SSS machine, and it's tons of fun. It has 3 different modes, and different fever rounds for each mode,. The graphics are very nice, and watching the sea creatures is really cool. One thing I can say about it is the girls are busty, but nothing they wouldn't see on TV, and a 5 year old wouldn't care about that, anyway. If you don't mind seeing cartoons in bikini's then you should have no problems. HTH.

    Thanks everyone.

I'll grab that SSS and and install it in the gameroom. I am up to 3 now (picking up a vintage nisshin Saturday $15) I believe I'll wall hang them in chronological order. The cabinet I'm building will hold all 3 in a single unit (and be easily expandable as required) with a single power switch for the cabinet.

Looks like Happy Hostital is going to have a 'problem that I can't fix' (aka the back power switch) come up with it, but I'll hang it anyway.

Also, thanks for the heads up on the dongle. I'll look into that. Looked like a ball counter to me... but then again, you wouldn't (in the original use) want someone to realize how many balls they'd sent through right?

Photos of the vintage after I pick it up, and of the cabinet when finished will be forthcoming.

    Welcome!!

In the real world, they would have a good idea on how many balls they put through by the number they 'rented' and had left when they were done. At home a ball counter is more useful and Daverob's Dongle can keep track of that. But on modern machines, for the most part, you just let em rip and try to hit fevers.

Yeah I've seen the vids...nurse Betty isn't really for the kids. There are MANY that are kid friendly though.
