Default Imatrixcanada - Magical carpet experience

As I have already posted here, I have picked up Monday two machines from Imatrixcanada: Magical Carpet and Woody Woodpecker.

I am very busy these days, so I have only little time to inspect and try the machines.

What I have found so far is somewhat dissappointing however, as it was advertised on ebay as refurbished and fully operational. I will chronicle here my experiences:

Yesterday I took Magical carpet out of its box, to see what needs to be cleaned (Woody is still in a box).

First, the unit is very dirty (plastic surfaces, front glass etc.) - I will need lots of Windex to clean it!
Second, the ball chutes are inside very dirty (I put a finger in the opening for example at the front top tray and there is lots of dirt inside) - I am not sure yet how to clean that easily (any advice anyone?)
Third, the 24v transformer was installed in the middle of the back of the unit, directly under the rear ball chute opening. So balls coming out the rear chute will drop directly on top of the transformer, and there is no space for a ball tray ( I will have to move the transformer to a different location -as suggested by Imatrixcanada).

After cleaning / moving the transformer I will switch the unit on - with more updates (and after cleaning pictures) to follow.

For cleaning the ball chutes try Q tips!
as for the transformer, some people have used tubes to re-route the balls falling out the back. that's another option instead of moving the transformer.

Looks like a fun machine though! hope you enjoy it

Tubes sounds like a great idea! Where could I get a tube for this?

I've never got a machine with cleaned ball tracks. they are used a lot in palours and dealers don't spend hours on end with cleaning each machine like many of us do.

refurbished to them is install transformer, check play and lights and wipe down with some windex and rag or paper towels.

as long as my machines arrived in one piece and worked I was a happy camper

minor issues don't bother me much, don't worry, be happy

Thank you for the encouragemet. This is my very first pachinko, so I did not know what to expect.

So if I clean the chutes with Qtips - is it safe to assume that with a high probability my brand new shiny balls will stay shiny for a while (and will not attract lots of dirt from inside the machine)?

Miklos, Clean everything that you can.
Not only will it keep the balls cleaner, but the playfield as well.

Also, it will help you familarize yourself with the various components of the machine.

as for tubing any hardware store will do, make sure that the ball can JUST roll through the tube with ease, with little space around it (to prevent jams) the balls are 11mm i recommend bringing a few in your pocket and testing it out in the store though.

Further update: I have finally yesterday switched the machine on the first time.

And... many of the light bulbs are burnt out, the scimitars do not work at all...

I have contacted Imatrixcanada about this, and since they sell the units with 90 day warranty they told me to bring it back and they will give me another one, with working lights.

Update to follow after I got the replacement unit.

Hey gadget, hope thigns turned out better... I picked up a pair of machines today, A batman and a fever queen... a little old school, but i was looking for something a little more "slot machine" inspired... and hey... BATMAN!

David seemed nice, helped me load up, but i do agree, they could be cleaner. Of course, as it was stated earlier... they pretty much check basic function, install the transformer and go.

Update: I have returned today my Magical Carpet (fortunately I did not really spend any time cleaning it)

David tried an exchange, but since he did not have any unit with fully working lights, offered a different model instead (they do not replace bulbs).

For a slight extra I got Marilyn Monroe. And... I ended up with one more unit: Galaxy Train...

I have now three machines, and cant wait to have them all set up!!!

    This is very addictive

As a side note: Imatrix was very professional during all this. Especially for local pickup they are to be recommended!!!

Glad to hear it all worked out, but since they are advertising them as refurbished they really should clean up their machines better, move the transformers to the right location, check for burnt out bulbs, etc. I hope their prices reflect the condition of the machines they are selling.

It's alway a good idea to turn the machine on to make sure everything works before you start cleaning, that way the vendor can't blame you if something is broke. Thanks for the head up about Magical Carpets from them. I was eyeballing one earlier today.
