Default Question: can a Pachislo be configured to run without tokens

Does anyone know whether a Pachilso can be converted to run without needing tokens :?: That is, it would allow you to play without needing to input or payout tokens. It would be 'free running', with always enough credits to place bets and spin the reels.

Any suggestions from the experts would be appreciated. 8-)

You can get a mod chip from Rob at www.pachislousa.com for about $10. Requires you to do a bit of work but it will handle at least half of your request. It will give you 50 credits. Now it won't stop the machine from paying out tokens. Not sure anyone has ever made that particular request before.

If you search the forum you'll find a lot of people talking about automatically adding credits to the counter. Pachislousa.com has a chip that will allow you to add 50 credits at a time.

As far as I know no one has been able to figure out a way to get around the 50 credit limit on the counter. This pretty much eliminates any chance of avoiding paying out tokens, especially during bonus rounds.

There was one machine that was discussed that was modified to hold more than 50 credits but that appeared to be a pachislo that was modified by the manufacturer to be used in the the U.S. at the Dunes. No one has figured out how to do that to a standard pachislo.

I just installed the auto stop with the credit mod. on both my Babel and Azteca returnes. I took them plus two others to a new years party. They loved not having to put in the tokens! Expert for the kids they like to put tokens in. They would make the machine spit out the tokens just so they could fill it back up. The kids had just as much fun as the adults. It is not easy putting in the chips if you are not familiar with electronics, but if you are handy and what to learn more about you machines and have the fun of working on them I would recommend this modification. If you need help PM me and I will help. I messed up on the first one and had Rob tell me and help me over the phone and redid it. Worked great then and the second one was a snap to do! I will be posting more on this subject. Laz.

Having the machines converted for use without tokens has been a option available to home users in Japan for a long time now. I don't think anyone sells the hopper simulation devices here in the states though. It could be possible to get one from Japan but I think it would be difficult and expensive.

I thought I read somewhere that someone had or is working on a chip that would hook into the coin mechanism wires. When a particular button is pushed or held down for x-seconds the chip would put out a series of pulses that would simulate coins passing through the coin mechanism. I'll try to find it and post a link.

k46tank : We all know there is a chip that does the credit thing to play initially but nothing is out there until now for what pachi_slotter stated :
    hopper simulation devices
where the payout from the hopper is simulated and put into an led credit window. In other words you hit a Big Bonus and get say 200 tokens out. Instead of tokens spitting out from the hopper you would have it all credited and see it on a led readout :!:

The main purpose in Japan is to make the machines operate as quietly as possible. They hook up headphones for the sound, hook up a pushbutton device up to the coin selector connections to add credits, and hook up a hopper simulation device up in place of the hopper. Some might also add a data display to keep track of their wins and losses but separate data displays are more expensive than the slot machines. Some of the newer machines can display the data on their on screen guides. They also have a hopper sound silencer device now but I would think that the coins hitting other coins in the payout tray would still make a lot of noise.

The devices would be a lot more expensive than buying tokens for a machine but converting the machines so that there isn't any payout might make the machines legal in more parts of the US. I haven't seen anyone try it yet.

The dealers that sell them in Japan aren't set up to sell outside of Japan. Here's a link to one.

    hopper silencer:

If you buy a device by itself you have to make sure it is designed to work with your machine.

I've seen the machines and devices a lot on the Japanese on-line auctions but the sellers don't ship to the US. There are auctions services that can buy things for you and ship then to the US but I think it would be very very expensive and if you have a problem it might be difficult to get it corrected.
