well I made one today, its set-up indoors cost was 2.99 total---for a 300 to 75 ohm transformer

it does work, but not great, this is my best station

I am running a 50 foot coxial cable, that may be effecting it some,

I'm going to get a antenna amplifer and try that

With 50 ft, I would think that you would need to a add an in-line signal booster.

I don't think it's possible for LD to take a picture within a stone's throw of his home without including a pachi in the shot.

remove the lnb and attach your toy inplace of the arm or just buy a local antenna for your dish its the same thing .just mounts on the outside edge of your dish.

I got my $40.00 off coupons from Uncle Sam today and went to Circuitcity and bought the Zenith digital tv converter tuner DTT901.

don't get the 900, the 901 is better and has pass thur for regular analog stations.

I plugged it in and hooked up my homemade antenna and the tv.

the menu was very easy to navigate, I did auto select on channels and

I'm getting 20 channels all with fantastic pictures

a few are the same channels in analog or digital or HD.

this works much better than I could have thought

the antenna is in my back bedroom window so it would face the right direction, the tv is hooked up in the kitchen with 50' coxail cable running between the 2.

I'll pick up an amplifer on Ebay and see if any more channels will come up.

    I'm a happy camper

I totally agree with Free T.V. and have ever since the converter boxes were available. I do miss a few of the educational channels, History, Discovery etc. In the long run I save $70.00 a month on eliminating cable and since I quit smoking I figure I save over $300.00 together. That pays a lot of utility bills or new toys for me!!! I have several of the small portable antennas with a magnet of the bottom. I have found I can move one of those around into many positions and hook the other end to my converter box. I have never found a time I couldn't find reception and able to watch T.V. I get somewhere between 12-15 channels at any given time. It really is worth checking out. I think if more people switched even for 6 months it might tempt the cable companys to adjust their price!

when the local channels switched over to digital,i picked up a 45 year old rooftop antenna for free and mounted it in my attic, with almost 100 feet of coax going to the converter box.the antenna was like new because it came out of another attic.i used rg-6 quad shield coax and that helped a lot,i get perfect reception.
