This could refer to a networking problem then. In the upper right of your cabinet above the reels, on the right hand wall there should be a board with a few connectors with nothing attached to them. There needs to be one larger ribbon cable attached to that board, unplug it and plug it back in at both ends, If there are any other cables attached to it, do it to them also. This is the board that connected the machine to the parlor's internal network so that might be the problem.

This is my personal opinion, or of the voices in my head, and are not meant to reflect the opinion of this board.

I have checked those connections, but I will do it again just to be sure. It's strange how it went into error mode all of a sudden. Since it happened right after I powered it up I wonder if something is cooked.

    Happy New Year everyone!

All of the connections appear to be good. Is there a difference in the machine/casino interface card from machine to machine? I could pull the card out of my older Oasis machine and try it in the Azteca to see if that is the problem, but I don't want to fry it.

    Try these.

    1. On the console box (where the power switch is located), there are two black switches under the key hole. Put them in the right position, then reset and see how it goes.

    2. Turn the door key counter clock-wise and see how it goes. If you don't have the door key, open the door and lift up the latch bar so that a micro switch by the coin selector can go on.

I would call your dealer who sold you the machine for help.
It sound like a more in depth problem that their tech suport is for.

    Gaku,
I tried your suggestions and it is still in error mode. I tried swapping the interface card from another machine and that didn't change anything. I did manage (and I don't know how) to get it to start working once, but as soon as I powered it off and back on again it went back into error mode.

I agree with Arby, I'll be calling tech support on Monday.

RKnarr01 did you have any more luck getting the screens translated?

I guess we kneed to track down a tech that works/used to work in a casino in Japan and get him to become member here.

Update time......Apparently DGI doesn't know what the problem is but they have a AZTL on their workbench and are trying to duplicate the error. So I guess we will see what they can find.

    From my favorite translator/techie guy:

    通信エラーが発生しました
    しばらくお待ち下さい
"A communication error has occurred. Please wait a little while."

Well... communication error RK figured out...
and we've waited a while, too.

Must be alot like that "keyboard not present... press F1 to continue" computer error.

Well you know, I haven't just let it sit with this error on the screen. After I saw the error I screwed around with......I mean troubleshoot for a while, got mad enough to cuss (O.K. I actually did cuss), then I would turn it off. Then I would repeat this after I thought I might have a solution, but when it wouldn't go away I would turn it back off. I'll go turn it on and "wait a little while" and see what happens.

O.K., I let it sit for about 3 hours and it just kept flashing the error. I then turned it off and back on and....it was working, kind of. I had the odds key in the on position and didn't realize it. I went into the menus on the LCD and saw that it was clocking every time I powered on and off the machine, so it looks like everything internal was working even while the error had it shut down. It did show a Comm. Error back several days ago.
Now here is an interesting thing. Where the odds setting (1-6) is usually displayed in the credit window, it now shows 10. I tried to change the odds but the 10 would not change. I pushed the reel spin knob down and turned the odds key off and the machine worked.
Now comes the problem again. I turned the machine off then back on again to try and reset the odds and now the Communications Error is back. I will let it sit again and see what happens. I don't know if it was a fluke that letting it sit is what cleared the error, but I guess we'll see.

    * Well its been another two hours and I turned it off and on and it is still in Error. I guess the above was just a fluke after all. I'm going to leave it on the rest of the night and try it again tomorrow around noon.

You said it's clocking everything even while the error has been there? You've kept it plugged in or have you pulled power completely to this unit?

I think it is evil inside your machine trying to get out. Or it just doesn't like you.

I hope this machine isn't in an area of your house where it can watch you...

Also, do not go near the machine in the dark.

I would say a call tag is in order and then they can figure it out.

You've kept it plugged in or have you pulled power completely to this unit?
I have left it plugged in as well as unplugging it for several days but that did not change anything. Since the machine will keep the time and date even while it is unplugged, I'm thinking that there is a battery in it somewhere. I guess that would keep the errors in its memory while unplugged also.

I think it is evil inside your machine trying to get out. Or it just doesn't like you.
You called your dealer, What did he say ?
You may be right. Maybe I need to light candles, talk softly, and caress it  . I called DGI and they are still working on the problem. They have a machine that they are attempting to duplicate the problem on.

I hope this machine isn't in an area of your house where it can watch you... Also, do not go near the machine in the dark.
I is upstairs, maybe its just lonely. It has an Oasis to keep it company, but maybe I need to get a few more machines to keep it company. I be a Harley would make it happy.....Then my wife would be shut down and giving me error messages :smt018

I would say a call tag is in order and then they can figure it out.
They are working on it. I haven't heard from them in a couple of days, so I guess I need to call them back.

Another update. I let is sit all night flashing the error. I turned it off and right back on and it is working again. I still can't set the odds. When I turn the odds key to on it shows 10 in the credit window and it will not change. One thing I did find is that when it is in credit mode it shows 1-0 where as if I take it out of credit mode then try to set the odds the credit display shows 1- .

Update to the update. Apparently the "Wait a little while" trick also applies to the odds setting as well. I turned the machine off and "Waited a little while" then turned the odds key to the on position then "Waited a little while" then turned the machine on and I was able to set the odds. Then, you guessed it, I "waited a little while" held down the reel spin knob "waited a little while" then turned the odds key back off. Everything seems to be working. My suggestion, as well as one I received from a knowledgeable source, is to leave this machine on if you anticipate playing it every day. If you will only be playing once a week or so, turn it off at the switch then unplug or power down the powerstrip. Reverse the process for power-up (strip then machine switch). Apparently powering off then back on without a proper "Wait a little while" will cause the machine to go into the error mode.

If anybody has a translation of "Wait a little while" into actual time, that could be helpful.

A big THANK YOU to everyone here who has taken the time to help me with this problem. Hopefully it is solved, but who knows, the evil spirits may come back.

Also if anyone comes up with the function of the DIP switches (bar of eight little switches on the door of the machine below and to the right of the volume switch) I'll give them a dollar....maybe two!

Well the waiting a little while and another little while longer is strange. Really strange. I've got 14 machines and none of them requires me to wait a little while.

I'm now thinking that the waiting a little while is showing you have a power supply problem.
