Default Vintage Kyoraku Pachinko (jackpot video)

My Kyoraku pachinko arrived today in perfect shape. The seller packed it with block foam at my suggestion, so there was little chance of UPS damaging it. It was one of the most thorough padding jobs I've seen. The section in front of the handle and trays was poured to match the shape! (See my unpacking photos below.)

I plugged the machine into a 100V stepdown transformer, loaded it up with balls, and everything worked! I only had to adjust the contact on the jackpot and refill lights switch so they weren't on all the time.

The arms in the center of the playfield activate when a ball gets in (fairly difficult to do) and a wickedly loud alarm goes off as they open and close (sound like a car alram). I took my first pachinko video to show how it looks.

    YouTube - Kyoraku Pachinko Jackpot!).

I like this machine because it has little mini-fevers, but you get them though the luck/skill of hitting the pocket, not because a computer spins a random number. Plus, with the smaller payout I don't have to go as crazy trying to keep the hopper refilled.

I'm not sure how the solenoids are set up, but when I take it apart to clean it I'll add photos to this thread.

Need a clearer shot of the name on the black box on the back.

    I wouldn't say 70's, probably 80's.

Does one lock open the glass and the other the case?

And is it me or does it look like it's missing something below the two big wings?

(Demanding little sucker, aint' I? )

    Great machine though!!!

Here's more photos. The close-up shows the complete set of vertical center pockets. It all seems to be there, it certainly operates without any problems. The only apparent differences between the three holes in the mechanism is that the top one—the only one available in the resting position—activates the wings sequence.

From the angle of that photo you can see that the very top pocket doesn't drop down into the center mechanism, but instead sends the ball behind the backboard into the payout chute. Balls in that pocket mechanically trigger one of the two bottom side tulips to open, alternating between left and right.

I've taken photos of all the stickers. I can't identify dates on any of them (unless 7.5.12 is a Japanese date), but my guess is also that this machine is from the early 80s. It has a simple circuit board with resistors and such in the green box on the back which drives the speakers and the wings mechanism, but all the pockets and tulips work with gravity and toggles. If I didn't need power to run the shooter, I could play the game unplugged and still get jackpots, just not fevers.

And yes, the case latches are on the back left and the glass door latch is on the back right.

It just looks like in the first picture, at the bottom of the big wings are two openings (small ones). Probably just missing the nails, like in the small pocket above.

I'm sure someone can figure that date. No luck on the name...yet

One other bit of information: when I open the panel below the glass door I can see "No. 35" printed on the bottom left corner of the playfield. Because the printing is under the laminate I'm assuming it's the model number. It's times like this that I wish we had access to a comprehensive database of all models by all manufacturers going back to the first machines. Just look up "Kyoraku model 35" and get every detail. A collector's dream.

I wish it was that easy too

Kyoraku and others doesn't go back very far in their museums.

So far, the best I can get for ボンバー is "Bomber".
