I've got several in that case, the FF99.

The grinding noise when you plug it in is the payout motor running. It runs continually. In a loud parlor, you wouldn't even notice

I think if you had about 500 more balls, a lot of problems would go away. If the upper hopper in the back is low or empty (the red lights in the upper left front of the machine indicate this, the green indicate a payout), the payout mech locks out and a mechanism also locks out the shooter mech (the part that puts a ball in place to fire).

The balls are 11mm, I'd go with official pachinko balls, they will be the cheapest.

If you want to clear the machine of payouts without filling the hopper each time (till you get more), open the payout mechanism and hold the 'J' hooks out of the way till the other parts stop 'jumping'. You may have to shake the machine a little if some have gotten jammed in the machine.

And for the 'pachinko eye', most parlors are well lit, although the pachislo side seems a little darker in some. You haven't seen anything till you've seen a Sankyo Crystella or Taiyo Elec frame go off, fully surrounded with RGB LED's plus the games all flashing. I'm sure I've had a siezure or two from it!

Nothing to add other than look on ebay for pachinko balls. There are still decent deals on there. Buy a thousand. You'll use them on this and/or your next machine. Also consider building a cabinet to help with ball management, or at the very least do the paint tray thing so you don't have to keep reaching around.

Many threads about these things here.

Oh no! another problem! the balls are gathering up in the START slot ! and the yellow arms are stuck open, also i cleaned all the balls and they are still getting stuck in the payout lanes.. I can try to describe what i think the problem is. Theres three lanes in the payout compartment. one lane has a plastic J that hooks to another plastic J the other two lanes have one big plastic J that covers both lanes, they are getting stuck in the back two lanes, I see a bar that comes from a motor that is supposed to be pushing the J up, and the bar just jiggles in place. I manually life the j up and everything is happy again, but this happens like every time. Most important problem though is the first one! it's not playable like that !
