Default Trying not to beat a dead horse :) Volume Control

    PachiTalk

I've searched the forums and think I have my answer but would rather post with pics so that I'm positive in my forth coming mod.

I hate to say it...sigh volume control
the above thread is pretty clear and concise - however, based on my SW machine - where exactly would I attach the wires to the control - would someone be so kind as circle it on the provided pic

I truly appreciate any and all assistance

center is common (black) each side is positive. if you are controlling one speaker wire from center contact to the outside one on either side. if stereo combine the commons and wire a positive to each of the end contacts.

on the Lumina frame the speaker wires for each speaker can be seen easily seen so just cut one of the 2 wires for each speaker and wire yor chosen volume control in one wire on the center tap and the other wire on one of the side taps

I guess my confusion lies in which of the contacts I use? The 3 contacts at the bottom end or the ones just beneath the finger control on the pot? I want to wire them individually - please see attached pic. Sorry... but visualizing it works best for me.

What you have in the picture is correct. One wire to the center, and one to the the left or right side contact. Which side you connect to will determine if the volume adjust high to low from the left or right as you turn the knob. So yes; you are correct. also this is not a stereo pot, the contacts on the bottom are for the on/off switch i believe.

Also, the amplifiers on these machines have fully independent channels, so never connect the grounds from the left and right side together. It will burn up the amp. You should always wire the connections to separate volume controls, or a stereo pot.

Installed and it works brilliantly!!! I'm just going to do the one side for now and see if anything out of the ordinary happens - but for $2.99 per pot at radio shack...sorry...the "source" for us Canucks it's great!
