Actually, I think this one had to do with the cell itself. SEA or SAL wasn't presented as an option.

There may have been some miscommunication on my end, but it all works out in the end. I'm home and not traveling for work next week... so so much the better. ^^

Now if I was to get something like Makoto-chan for 1200 yen... I'd expect to pay no more than $60-70 shipping.

How much would SEA or SAL cost to ship a cell? I assume cheaper than $127?

New record for EMS through customs!!

7 minutes (from customs in Chicago).

Looks like I'll have the machine tomorrow afterall. (Shipped Monday morning in Japan. My Sunday night.)

Now if only the L-pads I purchased arrive at about the same time...

They didn't. They arrived today along with my 500 Watt transformer so I don't have to worry about rewiring more than just the speakers... (I'm lazy.)

Speaking of which... I think the only other things I need can be had at Radio Shack or similar. Some wire, a little solder, and a soldering iron. (Am I missing anything?)

So assuming work doesn't require me to stay late, I'll have some pictures tomorrow. No video, though. (No camcorder.)

Also, a user asked me if I would post up a guide for shopping on YJA. I will. Not tonight though. Too much going on work-wise.

Just a warning (that you might already be aware of!), the transformer you've linked to is a 110v to 100v transformer, so if that is the one you've bought, then make sure that there is a 100v to 24v transformer already fitted to the pachinko before you power it up.

I thought I'd better mention this as the auction text for the game says that there is no 24v transformer fitted, and if you plug the machine directly into a 100v output transformer, then there will be smoke and you won't be playing it for a while...

Well... I'll have to pick one up then. Thanks for the catch! (That would have been -really- bad.) I suppose I can still use my transformer for the other Japanese electronics I have (PS2).

So do pachinko parlors not have regular plugs then and they just hook up directly to 24V power sources? I was under the assumption that one would just plug into a standard 100V outlet.

And in that case what is what I'm looking for? (Preferably from a brick and mortar store... otherwise, it'll be till Monday before I can use the machine. )

Stealth Amusement has the PowewVolt SMR-6-24-2RTC. for 24.99. I use these on all of my machines.I highly recommend this xformer.Just go to stealth amusement and search for transformer... It's the only one they carry

Hmm... Well, that is one option. Doesn't seem like they'd ship before Friday, though.

I was hoping I could get it by tomorrow (local in Chicago) or order it and receive by Monday at the latest.

When I translated the auction, I thought the 24V notice meant that it already had a transformer in place. Of course, I idealistically ignored the "imasen" following (even though I correctly translated it to be non-cyclical).

Can't you pull one off one of your other machines, just till you get another one?

Well, yes. But then I'd be being practical...

(I thought about that and will probably do so. I was hoping there wouldn't be a need to do that, though. Unfortunately, it seems these are specialty items that aren't just carried by one's local Radioshack.)

Seems like I should get the one in the middle:

    http://www.pachislo.com/pachinko/p_parts.html

If I'm going to buy online. There should be little to no difference in quality so far as I can tell.

Well the Stealth one is better than the pachislo.com one you linked. Pachislo.com used to sell a comparable 6A model for little more than that 5A model, but they've moved away from the parts business some.

I thought the Stealth model had a thermal cutoff too...not sure.

It's been awhile since I've tinkered with voltage and amperage...

Voltage needs to match as it is the current frequency of sorts, while amperage should be equal to or above the needs of a machine because it's maximum current draw. Right?

While I'm at it... how do Watts figure in? (As in my 500 Watt transformer.)

ok the ampage is watts divided by volts wich means if your transformer is 24 volts divided by 500 watts then you got about a 20amp transformer its teh old voltage triangle that you have to transpose

and yes voltage needs to mach amps needs to equal or be above
My rice krispies told me to do it
