Need help with babel

I messed up left the fourth reel rings ware my son could get to them. :oops: Now the tape that I had marking the start point for the strip is missing. I thought I remember the number on the reel frame that the joint was on but when I put the old strip back on does not line up when you play machine. Can somebody look at there Babel. If you look from the top down on the reel you will see the numbers on reel frame. You might have to take off plastic cover to see it better. It is held on with two thumb screws. Tell me at what number the strip starts at. The second thing I need help with is the volume. I was going to use the resister ladder for the sound mod. But on my babel the volume switch that I see on the left side of the reels has three settings but not much change in volume. Is this the same on other Babels? If this is so then the ladder I don,t think will work. Laz.

Sold my Babel a while back so I can't help on the top reel issue.
But the volume mod should work for you, the resistors drop the volume regardless of where the switch is set.

yes but if the switch works with three volume settings then the resisters make it them lowest volume is then ether off or vary low then middle is probily just right ant the high on volume switch is a little louder if need be. But if switch does not change settings enough then it is like only one volume setting of maybe just right. Does this sound right?

Yes, it sounds like you'd me much better off with an L-Pad, than a resistor ladder.

On the babel reel. When yoy start it up after shutting it off what is the image that it goes to every time? I could ust this info and the original post info as soon as pasibble. I am taking the machine to my moms.

Laz, the reel strip seam for the top reel is at 24.5. Only problem is that there is no actual mark for this point, since there is a plastic spoke on the reel at this point. Just eyeball it over from the 24. Good luck.

Thanks to luckydog and his Rai Rai guko I was able to find the starting place of the reel strip. :grin: I will post pictures and point out the spot for anyone else that my need this info. Also thanks to gwarzin on the volume mod. I do not have a Lpad but three pots ,one for each speaker mounted inside should do the trick.
